I mean the main thing is to talk to your healers, work with them to try and gauge what you need to do this fight. I suppose we really need to make a flow chart for what stat you need

Are you dying -> No -> stack what you want
    |
Are you getting one shot -> Yes -> more stam
    |
Are you dying to multiple attacks -> Yes -> More Mastery
    |
Are you dying to berserk timers -> Yes -> More avoidance
    |
Are you dying to something else ->Yes -> rethink tactics/stop standing in poo,

If being more tanky is an option that is. This is why we need flow charts.

    Or...both!

Tanks are obviously irrelephant to this particular equation.

I can't remember the last time a wipe was legitimately the tank's fault ... no wait...I think it was Maloriak. Maloriak? One of those bosses in Blackwing Descent.

I watch a lot of shows and I see that when there is a co-host the subject being discussed tends to wander off topic.

It's ok. You can admit it to us. You are trying to get more lady viewers with papapaint's voice.

    avoidance

I have a few problems with this video. I don't inherently disagree with any of the points made, but the data is not clear to me.

First: You show a graph of incoming damage on your (simulated) self, and declare it to be smooth. Then you show a graph of incoming damage on someone (simulated) else, with an avoidance build, and declare it to be spikey. I didn't see the difference. Can see we see the data side-by-side? At first glance, I thought, well now, this avoidance guy took a LOT less damage.

Second: I am not convinced that "spikey" damage is a bad thing, unless it's killing you, spikes are fine (i.e. i've got SBar coming up, Demo Shout at the ready, I can deal). "Spikey" damage is only bad if it kills you, that's why there are still Guardian Druids running about. "Spikey" damage is only relevant as it is related to your health pool. I'd like to see some information on "ok, and this is where this boss kills you" rather than just "damn bro! That there damage is spikey!"

Third: I am not convinced that your sim accurately takes into account the added rage (and hence, mitigation) that comes with an avoidance build. It very well might do that, but it was not clear in the video.

Fourth: You almost seem to offhandedly discount the benefit of the additional DPS from an avoidance build. In 4 of the 6 modes currently available (LFR, flex, 10N, 25N) tank DPS is a substantial number that cannot be discounted due to your preference for what a tank "should" be. I may have misconstrued your intent here, but I came away feeling like you don't care about tank DPS and have discounted it totally.

Your conclusions may be absolutely correct, but I'm not convinced of them. By all means, convince me! I'm very casual and currently just run flex with my guild (6/14 hooray!), but I'm a pretty good player and like to be on the top of my game. My overall feeling of the video is that your findings were secondary to your hypothesis. I could certainly be wrong. Your video tells me to stack mastery, and I don't feel that your evidence supports that.
