Hmm first question made me chuckle.
How to get more people to tank and heal - I know, lets create harder content requiring pre-made groups that only 5% of players are interested in!
However there is an element of truth to it - there is a lack of content for tanks and healers and this reduces the numbers that are interested in investing in tank and heal gear sets.
The problem with tanking and healing as far as the bulk of players are concerned (the vast overwhelming majority at the casual end) is that you only tank and heal in RF which means that for the other 90% of your time you are sub-optimally geared.
These days the casual end of the game is based around daily quests and scenarios where your tank and heal gear acts as dead weight. I am on the verge of quitting healing and going for DPS gear in future. In the past I would have stayed as a healer because I'd be doing a lot of 5 mans - but Blizzard are ignoring them and due to the lucky coins I find that running dailies is the optimal VP capping path.
I see a problem with Blizzards new loot scheme though. What happens come the final tier when all the tanks and healers took DPS gear in 5.3? Loot specialisation could make matters worse...
I am an RF healer, I sure as hell am going to go for DPS gear when 5.3 comes as it is more useful than the healing gear. This will make a mockery of the already laughable ilevel restrictions when the tanks and healers are all playing in DPS gear. Yeah you can say that it doesn't matter in RF but I'd disagree. We are wiping left, right and centre and I am on 30%+ of heals. Groups do need the few good healers to be in proper heal gear.
Or will the final tier in RF be tuned from a tanking/healing perspective around tanks and healers wearing DPS gear? TBH it is about time they just bit the bullet and removed separate tank and heal gear entirely. For the vast overwhelming majority of players it no longer makes sense. These days it only makes sense in the niche Normal/HC raiding end of the spectrum.
Of course the new loot system will allow Normal and HC raiders to run RF for offspec gear but they are too small in number to have much of an impact on queues especially as they tend to run as partial or full guild groups in RF.
I don't think RF gear would be of much use to them anyway? Sure a Heroic raiding tank/healer could pick up some RF DPS gear. But will that be much use in their HC raids if they have to switch spec? Also are their far higher ilevel HC tank/heal gear sets as big of a drag when doing dailies as a poor RF raiders tank and heal set?
But lets say they do go to TOT RF to pick up some gear? What will happen? TOT RF is currently a hell hole so it will likely be two hours of wiping, 150g repair bill and all they get in return is a bag of 30g! They won't use their lucky coins in RF as they will save them for their main raids so really I think the pain of TOT RF combined with the poor odds of winning weak gear just doesn't make that attractive.
Blizzard should have allowed us to buy the previous tiers VP gear with JP if they want more tanks and healers in a game where the majority spend 90% of their time DPS'ing. That would work well in combination with the loot specialisation system.
The old valor gear definitely should have become justice gear, and that would have fixed quite a bit. They could have even reduced the ilvl of the old valor, now justice, gear so that nothing's over 480 so you can't gear for ToT in heroic dungeons so you still have to run tier 14. They did this with the old conquest, now honor, gear. I don't see why that move wouldn't have worked for pve.
Another thing about having the old gear still cost valor is that it's a valor trap currently. I always cringe when I hear friends say they bought the old stuff, when it takes no time to get to throne of thunder LFR and then buy the vastly better 522 pieces from the shado-pan assault.
Professions to add to Warcraft. Stonemason, Quarryman. Carpenter, Lumberjack. for Craft/Gathering complements. Both could be used for the suspected "Guild Hall" or "Farms" for players. Both professions could have "Hasty Fortification" buffs for sheltering raid/ battlefield casters. "Cornerstone/Kingpost" crafting to allow other toons to build/expand buildings. Heck you could have skills added to EVERY profession related to building materials if housing was added.....it would also be an gold sink...... Herbalism could gather thatch, Smithing could make hinges/shutters doors. Engineering could do fireplaces/siege engines. Leather and Tailor could do drapes, rugs, etc. Carpenter could build boats as a niche market.......
I would also argue that it is FASTER to do dungeons (assuming you have access to a good tank) to do 5 mans for PvP gear than it is to actually PvP for PvP gear. And if there is anything wrong in the world, THAT is what is wrong.
As far as crafting professions, I see no reason to even add another one. Crafting as it is in WoW is not something that is even worth while doing outside of your stat bonuses, imho. Why add another nothing to the game.
When healers can get DPS gear, you're going to see a lot of DPS half-assing it as LFR healers in order to avoid the long queues, and doing it in low-spirit DPS gear.
Blizzard has never taken professions seriously and, as a result, they are basically a joke. So why waste the time and effort adding another one?
TBH if that end up as an issue the lowest healer(s) will get kicked after the wipe, THough i'm not really sure how often it will be pinned down as a healing issue, as almost all the mechanics which required decent are kinda ignorable and most healers are just sniping each other in LFR.
There's main spec'd healers with healing gear that half-ass it in LFR and barely scoot by, I don't really see the difference between bad healers in healing gear and bad healers in dps gear is. It's LFR, there are always going to be bad players and between the determination buff or them getting kicked or perseverance the bosses will still die eventually. As long as they are ACTUALLY HEALING instead of queuing as healing then DPSing, I don't really care.
About the secrets issue:
Remember the rogue dagger pt2 quest? gather 333 of something, you could get between 4-9 from each boss iirc.
This worked pretty well, it gave randomness but youd still get it sooner or later. maybe lower the differency to 5-8 to make it a bit less luck dependant.
Gearing up for PvE with PvP gear:
Anyone who actually know what theyre talking about, knows that PvP gear is perfectly fine to use for PvE except some of the trinkets maybe. Some socketbonuses gives PvE stats btw, and even some of the setbonuses could be usefull in PvE, I actually think the holydin PvP set bonus got nerfed iirc, because it was too strong for PvE.
But it is kinda weird that this is the way to go.
Imo they shouldve made the old VP gear purchaseable with JP.
The only thing JP is worth is to convert it to HP and buy PvP gear.
Furthermore, only fools would "waste" their VP on old VP gear eventho it got its price reduced, its still a waste.
When you cant buy any more 522s, chances are high that you got 496+ in every slot, so even at this point the old VP gear would still be useless. So Im pretty sure old VP gear is just collecting dust at the vendors these days.
Its still worthwile to run T14 LFR imo, it drops alota gear + legendary quest items + VP, so its certainly a good way to gear up. Maybe they could add some JP and lesser charms in the "failbag" to make LFR even more lucrative (especially if you could buy 496s with JP).

Not quite half the itemization. PVP stats aren't considered as itemization for the ilvl budget. The mian problem is that is hard to get bits of an equivalent Ilvl; the top tier PVP gear is only 512, almost a whole tier behind the normal raid gear.
