First thing I'm going to suggest is read my guide, You are missing an enchant (MAJOR ENCHANT) and incorrectly gemmed (incorrect JC Gem) in addition your glyphs and talents that you have chosen there are a few critical errors in your selection. Next time you run with that healer run logs and do a comparebot on the logs for yourself and the other healer, it will show a really good comparison on how the numbers are lining up.

I was actually waiting on our Enchanter to get the mats. Got my sword enchanted tonight. I will double check on the gems. Thanks!

Though I am curious how I have the wrong JC gem. Should I be using the intel JC gem as opposed to the spirit one?

Ah, I'll try comparebot next time! Should I still be going flat spirit if the socket bonus doesnt give more? My armoury link is second to last on page 2 =]

    **edit**

Hmm.. comparebot seems to shed some light.. seems my fellow holy pallie is using more mana efficient heals and letting their higher Spellpower carry them through, but I recently got a thunderforged sword from jin'rokh so perhaps that will even out next raid.

Regardless, any tips would be fantastic!

This isn't widely known but you are actually missing a socket on your weapon (eye of the black prince )

EDIT: Post the link of comparebot and I can look more into it. Props for actually looking into the issue yourself!

If the socket bonus is crit then don't go for the bonus.

I do have an eye of the black prince in my Soulblade of the breaking storm, it has a 320 spirit gem in it.

All my socket bonuses are int or spirit.

    ah sorry!

I thought the main difference between me and the other healer would be Holy Shock use/Holy power generation as I've only recently got rid of t14 and they never had 4 set... but that doesn't seem to be the case, It appears they're just more mana efficient...

I've also found that Beacon swapping seems quite good as having EF on myself and the beacon target ends up basically gives healing equal to the extra healing that I receive to the beacon target (As it's two lots of ticks which are equal to the 100% more EF healing I receive... I hope that makes sense, I feel dumb for only just realising how to make that more useful.) So I'm thinking of changing glyphs to the beacon glyph...

Other than that.. I'm not sure how to improve.

How is my gemming? Should I be going more spirit?

I wasn't able to really do any parses last night since you responded RIGHT during my raid time- I had never heard of compare bot, so thank you very much!

hat I'm curious about is the Illuminated Healing. From my previous looksees, we have roughly the same amount of mastery- so is his numbers in IH higher simply because he's out healing me? Which again, I don't understand how considering our difference in gear. I would figure right now since I don't seem to run out of mana- ever- would be a good time to start gemming/reforging into some intel so the spell power could do it's thing.

Orcitent: Your other holy paladin is making much better use of Holy Power (about 30% more usage on LoD and Eternal Flame) where as you spent more time wasting Holy Power on Holy Radiance (334 HR from you compared to his 181). That right there tells me he is using a more efficient rotation, he is spending less time actually casting a spell and using instant casts, this also means he is given more opportunities for Divine Purpose to proc (see where I'm going with this?) Ideally you want to change your rotation to be Holy Power based rather then your strongest spells.

Xarinrex: your friend is still using his T-14 set, I don't even need to look at his gear to tell: look how many times is casted Holy Shock compared to you... almost like it is a 2:3 ratio (that is exactly what it is). This set bonus is getting nerfed as of 5.3 so don't swap to it and get comfortable. Why are you using Holy Light over Divine Light? (when DL is casted on your beaconed target you get a Holy Power). Again READ MY GUIDE!!! You are still not correctly glyphed, again don't even need to look at your character: You are glyphed for avenging wrath.. He used Lay on Hands 9 times during that raid where you used it a combined total of.... 0. You need to glyph for it and use it every fight as it is a free 10% mana back just for that, you don't even need to actually use it for healing just use it for mana! Still using Holy Prism????

THIS GOES FOR EVERYONE!!!!: READ THE GUIDE THAT I MADE BEFORE ASKING WHY YOU ARE NOT OUT HEALING HIM/HER.

I cannot stress this enough, Before posting again make the according changes to your character (glyphs, gems, enchants, talents...EVERYTHING) Then post your armory link with your question. I can't take your questions seriously if you wont take my advice seriously.

Firstly, thanks for the reply. =]

I did feel that my efficiency was questionable in terms of mana/heal usage. We're raiding again tonight so I'll to focus more on building holy power and using it effectively, I think the change from a 4 second HS to a 6 second HS might have knocked me off a little in that regard.

I think one of my main problems is not using infusion of light very well (As in, I use far too many holy lights after it procs), so I'll try to reserve Divine Light/Holy Radiance for that, unless of course there's a situation that requires either outside of that. Ill see what happens tonight during the raid.

    Thanks again!

    **edit**

Raided tonight, we did Durumu, Primordius and Dark Anima, felt a bit more comfortable in having holy power built up and that helped me keep my mana up. I'll try to look at some more comparebots.. Certainly feels like I improved but I still have stuff to work on I think, I overuse EF I believe instead of perhaps giving people illuminated healing with light of the dawn/healing more targets efficiently.

    **edit 2**

It appears that I'm using holy power a bit better...I seem to be pooling it better now but overusing EF... here's some examples:

    Durumu : http://raidbots.com/comparebot/517b0...00048a#healing

Primordius: http://raidbots.com/comparebot/517b0...00046d#healing (We went for the 'zerg' tactic again here.. I went a bit mad with the holy radiances.)

    Dark Animus: http://raidbots.com/comparebot/517b0ded74254e9e1e00043e#healing

    Overall: http://raidbots.com/comparebot/517b0e8874254e305c0010eb#healing

I'm sorry If I'm posting too much and appear to be not doing much myself but I'm just trying to work it out.. I seem to be having overhealing problems.. gotta work on that. >.<

Hm... I seem to be a little hit and miss during attempts, I suppose healing saturation is partly the reason my healing numbers maybe aren't as high as they used to be.

Any more tips Kromus? I just.. don't know what to do really at the moment.

Couple Ghostcrawler Tweets on the subject of meters:

"Meters don't tell the DPS story very well, and they tell even less for healers"

"Stack ranking healers based on meters is like stack ranking cars based on max speed. It doesn't tell the whole story."

"Logs aren't a great way to measure healing done. Just as one expample, PW:Barrier doesn't show up while Tranq does."

Don't get hung up on the logs or the meters, you actually seem to be healing fine based on the damage there is to heal. One thing to keep in mind is that if you're not the lucky one who's Illuminated Healing absords damage you'll get lower numbers and that absorb accounts for a good amount of hps. It becomes a race where you want your absord to be the last on the target just before damage goes out.

I know it's easier said than done about taking the meters with a grain of salt, since this silly community has made the meters the be all to end all of judging performance. They are but a tool and personally I think they only tell a useful story if some one is constantly well below his/her peers; but when healers are all kind of in the same range, give or take, then it's a matter of who's heal hit first.

You do make VERY good points there, I might just be getting hung up on numbers. I just don't want to get a point where there is a problem so I try to improve whilst I don't have to, if that makes sense. Hehe.

Always trying to improve is a good thing; lots of good stuff in this thread - Kormus has some good tips. My main is a H Pally these days and my numbers are pretty close to yours and I tend to Holy Radiance too much too; or at least did. I was in a US top 100 guild for a bit and the other pally healer would just rock the meters and it drove me crazy; so I tried to heal like him and it was no help (I did notice I spent a lot of time healing him, since casting and moving hurt his numbers ). So, I said "screw it"; I went back to my healing style - more single target spot healing and not AoE bombing until I had to.

I wasn't going to rank on fights that way, but it kept people alive, it was a style I was comfortable with, and I was much more efficient.

Last night I was messing around with Beacon swapping to build HP, and didn't really like it, found I was casting DL too much; but then again I might have been a bit over zealous with it and not used to it. Gonna try it in real raid tonight (was lfr last night).

So Kormus, do you think the 2% nerf to Illuminated Healing is enough to make a switch to Haste over Mastery?

Personally (this is just my thinking, no math) I don't think so. Although I've noticed that the bubble is good for a hit, maybe 2 in ToT on a boss fight which kind of annoys me.

I think you're right, but from a personal point of view I miss the days of haste.
