Number of Healers in a 25M Team
Hey Everyone,
For those of you that raid 25M (specifically normal mode), how many healers do you utilize each night?
Currently, my guild (Sigil, Lightning's Blade [A] US) runs 6 healers on average. A couple fights, usually the on-farm bosses that barely require healing, we drop to 5. However, after some thought and analysis on our current progression fights (mid way through HoF), I noticed a lot of "Bloat" healing - i.e. overhealing, too much "top everyone off", etc. If the healing team were to utilize a more efficient recovery model (hots over direct heals, use dps's self healing like spirit-boind, etc.), we could potentially drop to 5 healers for the majority of the time. Then for fights that 5 just isn't cutting it, we can off-spec a 6th healer.
The primary benefit of this format is the flexibility to off-spec the 6th healer, rather than have a mandatory 6th healer. This allows the team to drop down to 6-7 healers (5 in raid, 1-2 spare) vs. 7-8 healers (6 in raid, 1-2 spare) and pick up a dps (dps are typically easier to recruit than healers, in addition to the fact that recruiting for 25M is hard enough already). Furthermore, with dual-spec, most cast hybrids have enough gear to be a support healer if needed.
Let me know what you guys do in your 25M teams!
