Making gold...not sure where to post..

Well, to start it off, I used to have an issue making gold. Back in wrath, I made about 30k in a week or two, but stopped til cata came out. Up until cata, I actually thought it was a large sum of money, until I compared my "wealth" statistic to a few other people. My question is, how do you make all of your gold? I'm not asking for every little secret, but I'm just curious as I see a load of people walking around with 100+ k gold. I know about playing the ah, but frankly I've never been good at that, aside from selling gems. Are there any other tips/tricks that I don't know about? I just want more money to be able to afford the enchants on my realm since they're well, 2k, if not more per enchant. Same with epic gems. Any help is appreciated. Mods, if this isn't the correct place for this thread, move it to where it needs to be.

How do you see other peoples gold? I make most of mine from raiding farm content.

Raiding without repair bills and consumable costs makes me about 1k a week.

When you compare achievements, you can hit statistics and it'll show you how much said person has made and the largest amount of gold they've had on them at any one time.

I very much doubt most people are walking around with as much gold as they've ever had. I've found selling fish for feasts to be particularly effective. The main thing is never just sit around in your capital, anytime you find yourself doing that, go farm something, or run dailies, or hell just run a dungeon, be sure to work out if its worth greeding or D/Eing drops first though.

Hmm, ok. Frankly, everything is so expensive now days that you kind of need to farm a few hours each day, or bot while you sleep.

I agree with people not walking around with the highest amount of money they have. I have my gold split between two 85s right now lol.

It is Taboo and against the rules, and I heavily recommend against it. If you don't have the time to level another 85 do you really have the time to play another 85?

On my previous server things were expensive 200-350g for a Bold/Brilliant Inferno ruby and people complained about it. However on any server where "everything is so expensive" it's easy to make profit, a stack of lavascale sold for about the same as a cut gem and I could easily fish one stack of those up in 5 to 10 minutes. Doing a set of the TB dailes pays the better part of 200G plus more dependant on the loot from mobs. Are enchanting mats expensive I used to be able to sell shards/essences for 50-100g each. a single lap of deepholm gave me 4-5 stacks of heartblossom that sold for 100g each and takes less than 15 minutes.

Well, I've got JC/Alch and Skinning/Herbalism on my 85s, so it really isn't all that hard to make money. Lately I've just been busy, and I've always wanted to know if there were ways to make gold that I didn't know about. I hate dailies with a passion, but 200g for a set really isn't that bad. Ever since farming dailies back in wrath for the shoulder enchant, dailies have put a sour taste in my mouth.

I think i worked out a set of 25 dailies in Icecrown that netted something like 340g. Granted farming them for the better part of 18 months kinda killed and desire to return there so kept myself busy with TB and the MF when it came out and then back to TB dailies as we didn't get a new hub for 4.3. Gold is just ridiculously easy to get if you aren't sitting in Org, which these days seems to be habitual on small servers.

Remember basics of economics, 2 things affect the cost of commodities, supply and demand, Prices will be high when Demand>supply and when that happens you should try to be the supplier if prices are high its becuase there's a market for that commodity, Or somone being an idiot and doesn't really want to sell it, that BoP bow is only worth 70k if someones will to pay 70k, would you be comfortable selling it at 1k? or 5K? probably, I used to sell alot of our guilds BoPs, I used to just advertise them on trade without a price and see what people would offer me.

But yeah get out of Org, it doesn't have to be the same dailes every day, or even dailies every day Fish one day, herb another. Just get out of the habit of logging on and sitting in the city. If your queueing for LFG/R go do some dailies. and loot everything, even if it's just vendor trash.

that and keep in mind things like valor boots and bracers are still selling. I make most of my money running dungeons on my enchanter. While im in the que i go quest in areas like twilight highlands and de quest rewards while herbing things along the way. then i trade in my justice points for more enchanting mats and valor points into boots and bracers to sell and then just post my JC, BS, enchanting and alchemy in trade chat when im posting auctions. just keep in mind, every bit of gold adds up.

Also now is a good time to start stockpiling tradeskill lvling mats for MoP. Prices for everything skyrockets, particularly bottleneck mats like mithril/thorium. When everyone rolls monks and pandaren alts the prices always go sky high.

That doesn't really help you with gold right now though.

True. I started researching what sells on my server(man I miss auctionator) and found that blackened dragon scales sell for 400g/stack, ans they're really easy to farm. Spent a good hour, got two stacks, made about 800g off just that.

I think that I'm just gonna spend an hour a day farming each kind of herb and leather the sell it at the beginning of MoP. Hopefully I can get on while I'm at training. Any idea when MoP is going to be released?

There is a lot of information about getting gold in the net. A good place to start is: https://eu.theunderminejournal.com/s...?realm=H-Vashj which collect the best Gold Making Blog's. Start surfing from there.

Current times are bad for gold making, as the servers are quite dead. But Coming MoP things will soar again.

The Consortium forums are a fairly significant gold making resource.

A few avenues to consider that do not require significant startup capital:
    • Vendor-bought recipies: go around the world hunting down recipies sold by a vendor, particularly limited supply ones. Buy for a few gold, sell for 10s of gold via the AH.
    • Ditto vendor bought pets. If you have a friend (or 2nd account) to help you, transfer vendor pets from one faction to the other.
    • Bags: if you have a TBC level tailor at least, you can make a fair amount of gold buying Netherweave, turning it into 16 slot bags, and selling on.
    • PvP armour: the market for this seems to be dropping these days, but the starter 377 gear from Tailoring, LWing, Blacksmithing, JCing and Inscription sell at a reasonable rate, often for decent profit.
    • Transmute: If you have an alchemist, especially a Transmute specialised one, turning Volatile Life into Volatile air (or Essence of Water into Essence of Air) once per day can net you a hundred gold or so for just a minute's work.
    • Sniping: watch the neutral auction house for valuable items cropping up cheap that people are transferring. And not so cheap: there may be faction specific items that sell for a lot more on your side.

If you're just looking to fund enchants, gems, repairs etc, these methods should keep you going. If you're looking to do more than that, then once you've gotten yourself a chunk of gold to start with, you can multiply it relatively quickly via many, many different methods on the AH.

To put this in context, I started with an investment of 3,000g a little over 8 months ago - beginning of November. I reached my first million gold on the 29th of Feburary, my second million three days ago, and am currently sitting on 2,034,070g. Approximately 100,000% annual return on investment, and I am by no means the largest or most effective/efficient goblin.

I used to make a fortune off of JC back in WOTLK. I've just started playing again and Auctioneer has helped me build a few thousand gold before reaching 60. My main's got Enchanting and some alts have Tailoring and Blacksmithing to turn all the mats into green items, DE them and put the enchanting mats up... Seems to work fine!

Besides already mentioned Consortium forums (which I think is THE BEST place to start) you can check WoWuction - wow auction house online tool. Besides good info on item prices there are two sections that beginners use with decent success to make some gold.
Bargain Hunter will help you identify and snipe some cheap items which you can then resell for more gold.
Profession Advisor will give some insight on what profession products might be profitable to craft and sell on your realm.

In any case, it is a bit tricky time now before the expansion comes out and economy stabilizes a bit.
I'd suggest you don't go into any kind of significant materials investment, just make quick trades or crafts to earn some capital.
Once the economy stabilizes a bit, new opportunities will arise and staying in the loop of places like The Consortium will let you easily profit.

Generally making gold in WoW has always been easy for those who are willing to invest some time into knowledge and understanding how to do it properly.
