120k health for reg. heroics 75% avd

It's been a long time since I've geared a new tank up and I can't remember where I was at for my first 3 tanks for heroics. Then again, I'm on a whole different server with this toon so no help from my mains or guild healers that are good.

So, 120k for heroics unbuffed? I'm around 75% avoidance unbuffed, 101%ish with shield block active and don't warriors try and have that up as much as they can? And besides the couple green pieces, does my spec look ok and all that?

And I did try a heroic the other day at like 116k unbuffed with 73% avoidance unbuffed and it was either me or the healer. I don't know if I just don't have any idea how warriors play or not, but it wasn't pretty so I told the group sorry and left.

I thought this was a bear post XD You're not at 75% avoidance... you're at 75% passive CTC. You're at just under 25% avoidance... small but key difference XD

1. Meta is Eternal (stam/+1% block value)
2. Gem for tanking bonuses with hybrids for non-yellow
3. yeah, SB is kept up as much as possible
4. Gear has a lot of expertise on it, which is better than hit, but reforging into mastery isn't as good as passive. But that will come.

What fights were you having trouble with, what was going on? Your base looks appropiate for gearing on your own, there doesn't seem to be any glaring issues outside of gemming hybrids for non-yellows is better.

It's definitely not...oh...you're not talking about avoidance, you're talking about combat table coverage. Avoidance is dodge + parry + 5% miss. Block isn't avoidance.

However, you do see to be adequate for non-troll heroics. Just keep in mind that they're actually HARD if you have that kind of gear.

Basically hybrid + bonus > pure mastery. It's not major from what I understand, but pure isn't the way to go unless you're looking to passively hit full CTC.

Don't worry about 102.4 with SB up. It will come naturally with gear. The discussion about dodge/parry/block to 77.4 was a discussion early on in T11 - when tank DPS still mattered for T11 progression kills and just general wanting to something other than stack mastery instead of stam.

SB is also only up 33% of the time, at best. So even if you're using it on CD, you still need to look at maximizing survability when it's not up. Mastery isn't the do everything stat agility is for bears (armor, dodge, crit for SD).

Mastery also doesn't reduce the most damage, per point. Dodge and parry, even with DR, still will give you more total damage reduction right now. Mastery is all about smoothing incoming damage so healers can use more efficient heals.

It won't be much of a difference, but hybrid gems + socket bonuses will be more survaiblity than pure mastery. And 102.4% will come natrually (TB trinket and you're there). 102.4 was really more important in a raid environment when you wanted to make sure that you were at least blocking that big boss special attack.

so tl;dr version - don't worry about 102.4%, it'll come. gem hybrid for blue/red sockets to maximize survaiblity.
