No-one likes to be rotated, everyone likes to raid, but with more raiders than raid slots we obviously have to have some sort of rotation system to ensure no-one gets left out more than is necessary. The rotation spreadsheet keeps track of who is due rotation and when. We tend to rotate by role, which is why you'll see everything colour-coded by tank/healer/dps.
Stretching off to the right of everyone's names you'll columns sorted by raid dates. In these columns are the numbers that determine whether or not you're due rotation. How we arrive at these numbers is via a point scoring system. You earn or lose points according to the following rules, bear in mind that having more points = more chance of being rotated. Scores are subject to change.
| Cancelled |
-1 point |
You can't make the raid, but at least you let us know before selections are done. Have a point off your total for being so considerate. |
| Selected |
+2 points |
You were selected, you get to raid, you earn 2 points |
| Late Cancel |
+2 point |
After selections are done, you cancel before the raid, it's a late cancel. Ok, it may have been unavoidable, but it still causes problems for the selection officers. You still get 2 points, it doesn't hurt your chances of selection next time as much as no-show but it still bumps you higher up the rotation roster. For this to be a Late Cancel and not a No-Show, you actually need to let someone know you're not going to be there. You do this by cancelling your signup and alsoposting in the selections thread for that raid. |
| No-Shows |
+4 points |
BAD raider! You signed, you were selected, then you pulled a disappearing act and left 24 other people waiting and not knowing if you were ever going to show up. |
| Not Signing |
+6 points |
You didn't sign, you didn't cancel, you just did nothing. We don't know if you're unavailable, available or anything. |
| Rotated |
Reset to 0 |
When you are rotated, which means you signed on time and you weren't selected, your points are automatically reset back to zero, virtually guaranteeing you selection on the next raid for which you sign. The people with the highest points for each role are most likely to be rotated |
Exceptions:
The rotation spreadsheet doesn't decide who gets rotated, the Selection Officers do. The spreadsheet is just a tool that we use to help ensure that rotations are done fairly and you can see who was rotated when and why. There are times when we just have to select certain people and rotate others because the raid demands it on that particular night. This may mean that people who are due rotation get selected. All we can do is apologise in advance, try to limit the number of times we're forced to do this.
People don't intentionally set out to screw the raid over. You could have a power cut, you may have to work late, there could be some sort of family emergency, your PC could get eaten by your dog. There are any number of reasons why you may fail to show up or not be able to sign. We understand this, and we're quite happy to listen to any explanation and adjust points accordingly. We just ask that you be honest with us and we'll be fair to you.
Hopefully from the spreadsheet you'll always be able to see why you were rotated on any given night, and more importantly that you were rotated for a good reason.
