[A] - Arthas <Punishment> is recruiting raiders for Firelands!
Punishment is a guild that is casual in time commitments but serious about our progression as a guild. What does this mean for you, potential Raider? You only have to raid twice a week for a total of 7 hours but you WILL kill bosses, see progression and get loot! Currently (7/20) We are 3/7 in normal and quickly working toward the end.
25man raid times T/Th 9-12 EST, 10mans various nights and times, Raiders are only required to attend 25man but may choose to join a 10man for extra progression if they wish to do so.
HOW I MINE LOOTS? Several of our members, including most of the guild leadership, have had bad experiences with traditional DKP systems. They are tedious and time consuming to implement and update each week, cause arguments and ultimately detract from the overall raid experience. We employ a system called EPGP, which differs from traditional DKP systems in a few key ways. Here are the basics of how it works and how we use it.
- "Effort Points" (EP) are awarded for participation in raids. Time spent in raids, wipes on progression fights, and successfully completing encounters earn raiders effort points.
- "Gear Points" (GP) are awarded each time a player receives loot. The value of each piece of gear is fixed and relative to it's type/rarity. IE: A 2 handed weapon is twice as many points as a 1 handed weapon.
- A "Participation Ratio" (PR) is calculated by dividing the number of Effort Points a player has accumulated by the number of Gear Points they have accumulated. Higher ratios mean more time spent raiding and/or less loot won.
When we distribute loot, we focus primarily on each player's ratio, and usually the player with the highest ratio (and therefore, the person who has put in the most effort while getting the least gear) will receive the item they request. However, there are times we overlook this number and assign loot based on other criteria. In the event two players with identical, or very close ratios, request the same item, we may decide to award loot based on who is receiving the largest upgrade over their current gear. We believe this benefits the raid as a whole and will further our success. We also may favor healers over DPS when general caster items are up for grabs, and again we feel this benefits everyone in the long run.
So...How is this better?
Traditional DKP is basically currency to be spent by players on gear, and the value or worth of an item then depends on how much people are willing to pay for it. A player may choose to not spend their points for weeks at a time, and instead horde them until a particular item drops, and then spend all of their points at once. This can hurt the raid group in general if players are passing up obvious upgrades. EPGP fixes the "cost" of each item, and players can not decide how many points to "spend" on gear they are interested in, the price is the same for everyone.
EPGP is also very fast, efficient, and secure. Everything is done in-game which allows everyone (including the loot master) to focus on the raid. It is discrete - players are not informed who is requesting gear, which eliminates the possibility for arguments, and players can not request gear their character can not equip, which avoids confusion during loot.

What we expect of you - As a Raider rank you will be expected to attend most (80%) if not ALL raids. Reserve raiders do not have attendance requirements. Raiders and Reserve Raiders are expected to have raid ready gear, gemmed, reforged and enchanted properly (Therazane exalted shoulders, appropriate faction head enchant) and to put out the best dps / hps / tps possible! You should be knowledgeable about your class and strive to always to improve your performance. You should take the initiative to watch videos and read strats and dungeon guide for new fights and ask questions of your role leads prior to raids. You should also be able to take friendly constructive criticism well from your role leader and raid leaders.
