Windwalk equals to roughly 200 dodge rating (33% uptime) so it's almost always worth it if you can afford the crystals.

I'm wondering what weapon enchant to go for as a paladin tank.
Currently, I'm using the cheap-o Mending. It did provide 250k-ish healing across a 3h raid session. That's nice, but probably not making any real difference.
Looking at the new tanking enchant 'Windwalking'
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=74244
"Permanently enchant a weapon to sometimes increase dodge rating by 600 and movement speed by 15% for 10 sec when striking in melee."
I guess the speed increase doesn't stack with the 15% a pally tank gets from Pursuit of Justice. 600 dodge sounds nice, but it's difficult to compare with anything without knowing the proc rate and internal cooldown.
In ICC I used Blade Ward
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=64441
"Permanently enchants a weapon to sometimes grant Blade Warding when striking an enemy. Blade Warding increases your parry rating by 200 and inflicts 600 to 800 damage on your next parry. Lasts 10 sec."
Considering that it stacks up to 5, this could be potentially more effective than Windwalk. The question is - has the proc rate been nerfed for level 85 chars?
I'm really at a loss here. Any input would be appreciated.

Windwalk if you can convince your guild to sponsor the crystals, otherwise mending is good. Well, maybe not good, but better than the alternatives![]()
Mending doesn't really impress. It did 3% of my self-healing in this kill, or 24.6k. Compared to 788k self healing from insight and WoG, that's twice nothing.

Blade Ward's uptime isn't great. 14% is what I see in the log below. I saw a it stack up to 2 charges only once, but may obviously have missed it at other times. My parry is higher than my dodge, since I reforged dodge to mastery instead of parry with the intent to get a more steady health bar.

So, with Blade Ward not stacking up and dodge and parry rating being equal in diminishing returns and damage reduction. Blade Ward provides only 1/3rd of the avoidance granted by Windwalk.
The question is - does anyone have a log or some data on Windwalk's uptime?
A claim of 33% is nice, but I'd love some more detail on that - before I blow my gold on it. =]
Modelling suggests somewhere around 30ish% at low levels of hit and expertise. Uptime increases a bit with hit and expertise increases.
Thank you. I guess I better get some crystals then. =]
Just to point something out with Bladeward: You don't want uptime, you want procs. If it procs 400 times in a 5 minute fight with an uptime of 5% that is fan-freaking tastic. That means that it proc'd and you parried immediately, in other words... It did it's job.
Don't be fooled by 'uptimes', pay attention to what the enchant does. I'm not saying bladewarding is great, just saying that if you don't pay attention to what the enchant does you can overlook certain benefits.

As far as I am concerned, blade ward zapping your target when you parry is pretty irrelevant in the context.
I was trying to determine how the currently still ridiculously expensive windwalk compares to alternatives regarding survival.
If threat would be a factor in the decision, I'd be getting a dps enchant.
Gold is worth nothing if your dead ... don't cheap out on enchants ... get the best of the best every time .. i was using wind walking on my old blue tanking weapons.
Wouldn't that make the gold more valuable?Maybe you don't get repair bills then
Oh, and Stephanius - I was not referring to the threat component. I was referring to the fact that bladewarding increases your parry by XX amount per stack. So if you only need 1 stack to parry, the enchant is working quite well. I never consider threat for any tanking enchant, if that was the case I would start bringing up accuracy or weapon chains.

I bit the bullet and got Windwalk now. To my surprise, it appears that the speed buff stacks with Persuit of Justice.
A quick test run in a heroic showed a 20% uptime. I don't know if it's going to be any nicer in raids, but I'll know soon enough.

PS: this 5 man run has two healers using their offspec, that's why dps is kinda low.
If you see something silly I'm doing or something I can do better in the logs, don't be shy to tell me. =]

How does the movement speed increase stack with PoJ if PoJ states that is does NOT stack with other movement increasing buffs?
