#1 DPS in ICC, #3-4 in Toc?

I've recently dropped my tank spec in lieu of a fury dps spec for a chance of pace until Cata hits. I've been doing pugs since I opted out of transferring with my raiding guild to a different server. My gear isn't the best, but I am hoping I could get some gearing advice and maybe some help on my spec as well.

I've had awful luck with trinkets and weapons, but I don't know how much of that is my problem. What I have noticed, however, is that I am typically the top dps in ICC 10/25, but when I step into ToGC my dps is usually a little behind hunters, mages, and rogues.

Any advice on gear/spec/porn/tips would be greatly appreciated.

    ICC has trash...
    ToC does not...

If you do more DPS on trash than on bosses, you will do better in ICC than you did in ToC.

Are we comparing Patchwerk to Oranges?

Have any actual logs to look at?

If I had logs I'd probably be able to figure it out myself.

Is there nothing outrageously awful I am doing in terms of gearing or specing that you can see that would indicate why I'm doing so.. mundanely in ToC?

Did you also take into account you deal 20% more damage in ICC?
This combined with the fact that there is trash can make a considerable difference.

If you do more DPS on trash than a hunter does, you top the meter for trash. If you have 20% more damage, the difference is also increased by 20% giving you an even further lead. Even if the hunter were to manage to beat you on the boss, it may not be enough to overtake your lead from trash. Every time you have an advantage in DPS your lead builds further.

Are you also working on a boss encounter which favors your DPS? If you top the damage meter on an attempt for a boss, and attempt that boss 15 times, you continually build a bigger and bigger lead because that particular encounter favors you. Doing farm content you are less likely to be repeating an encounter.

^ This if you're looking at overall DPS rather than boss DPS.

You're glyphed cleaving, with that extra damage every 3.5 seconds you're an AoE DPS machine.

Trash vs bosses does make a big difference... if you look at World of Logs parses you can separate out all boss kills (or look at JUST trash) so you look at 'overall' DPS without counting trash. Handy-dandy.

There's another reason this matters too.

Warriors get 20% more rage generation (roughly, I don't know the formula).

And since the factor separating warriors who have their rotation down is HS uptime, this is a pretty big deal.

Are you getting the same buff comp in ICC as in ToC?

Also as stated above, the ICC buff along with fights that have cleaveable adds, LDW, Marrowgar etc. Fury warrior will always come out dominant in those situations as opposed to single target high moving fights.

As everyone said trash in ICC will boost a warriors dps above pretty much everyone else. If you look at bosses only and you are still top in ICC but drop in TOC then look at :
group makeup - do you have windfury in both.
rage starvation - you can spam heroic strike in ICC, if you do that in TOC you can get rage starved and ruin your rotation and kill your dps.
less HS use in general - even if you manage rage well you will HS less in TOC which drops your dps, stand in the fire more to keep HS uptime up.
