Protection Paladin Tanking

I have an interest in dropping my Paladin's healer off-spec for Protection, but I don't know how to spend the talent points. I specifically want to be a main tank for raids. I would also like a few pointers in what stats to look for in items, other than strength and stamina (equip stats).

I started typing out a long post but realised it's kind of been said better already so I'll give you a few links that you can read through to get you started:

• The Protection Paladin Field Manual from Elitist Jerks
• Aggathon's Prot Warrior Tanking Guide from Tankspot (it's written for Warriors but the vast majority of the advice on stats, gems, etc applies to Paladins also)
• Maintankadin 101
• Basic Training 101: The Attack Table
• Advanced Tanking FAQ (don't be put off by the title, I'd recommend reading it now and revisiting it regularly as your experience and understanding grows).

A lot of reading, for sure, but each of those posts is fantastic and will teach you just about everything you need to know. Of course in the meantime if you have anything you don't understand or would like to ask any questions, feel free to send me a PM on these forums.
