Warrior Tank Questions

I had a couple of questions with regarding my Warrior tank, i usually post on another site but was told this was the place to come for tank advice. First of all i would just like to state this is obviously my offspec (given no Ashen ring!). I've gotten to the point where i no longer need to spend my frost emblems on any Fury gear so have started collecting OS gear.

1. My first question is with hit. I know the softcap is 8% but how important is it as a tank to reach that? What is "acceptable"? I'm really struggling with hit. I'm even using two 10 hit / 15 stam gems in yellow sockets even when a 30 stam gem (for a +6 stam bonus) is what is usually used. My hit is only 146 (with the 2 yellow gems) and i need to replace my belt as it's the worst item i have but that would loose me another 56 hit. Should i be worried as much as i am about my hit as a tank?

2. Expertise. As a fury warrior it's essential to reach the dodge cap (6.5%). However as a tank however we obviously attack from in front of the target so we can be parried. Reaching the hardcap is not optimal but i have always tried to stay at the softcap even as a tank. My question is what is optimal as a tank in regards to expertise? Do we use 10 ExP / 15 stam in red sockets past the softcap?

3. Finally i was wondering if it was better to replace my Black Heart with http://www.wowhead.com/item=47735. Obviously a good tank has a bunch of trinkets and swaps them around depending on the encounter but on a melee hitting boss which of those 2 would be the better option?

Hi Racetrack,

#1 hit is not really important for a tank, the only important point is taunting and therefor you can use the glyph http://www.wowhead.com/item=43429 which give you 8% hit for taunting. I personally like a little bit more hit, but you need only around 100 hit rating, that shout be enought. I use http://www.wowhead.com/item=44497 on my tanking weapon, that give you an extra hit :-)

#2 Expertise is the most important threat stat for tanks. If you have no threat issuses, you can run with 19 expertise or something, but if you struggle get more exp to get softcap or even higher.

#3 Both trinkets are very strong. On a hard hitting boss i will prefer Black Heart to give your heals a little bit more space to work with. On fast hitting bosses or if your heal are comfortable with healing you, i will take the glyph. Or at a boss fight, where you need a timed cooldown to avoid damage. The procc form Blach Heart are really strong, but it's a procc and in worth case not up, if you need it.

Wouldn't worry about hit or expertise since your rotation is what's making your threat good or bad. Focus on stamina and armor instead. Also, accuracy to weapon would be better replaced with blood draining or mongoose.

Thanks for the helpful advice, both of you. I've decided to not worry too much about hit and try it use a taunt glyph if i'm seeing a drop in performance.
