Don't spec imp bloodrage over imp disciplines, other wise the spec with imp disciplines isn't really a new spec, it's the typical max survival spec.
Since the changes to our class in the recent patch we find ourselves looking at our Spec's and Glyphs once again.
I find myself lucky enough to have x2 prot specs which I try to use to the fullest. My goal is to have 1 Boss set up and one Add/Trash/Farm Boss set up.
Here's what I have come up with:
Boss (2 Ideas here):
1- http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LVZGV...idczsGo:cdrozm
2- http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LVZGV...idczsGo:Tdrozm
Add/Trash/Farm Boss:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LVMh0...idIzsGo:cNdozm *Edit changed this one slightly*
Thoughts?

There is something so appealing about backhanding someone across the face with a shield.

Try as I might I've never found a real reason to use the max survival spec. Even when I had the spec I rarely found myself needing to use it. The only real reason to opt for it is the imp demo shout and maxed commanding presence which is easily covered by a retadin and fury warrior in your group. It simply sacrifices too much tps, dps, and utility to make it worthwhile given how easy it is to cover the gains.
Do you find the bosses hit hard enough to warrant it though?
Actually no. I stat down today and reviewed everything again.
Even in the 10 man I run with a Prot Pally so Vindication is covered and the increase to commanding shout from 5/5 commanding presence is only 563 hp. In the 25 man's the increase is worth having, but its already covered by a DPS warrior.
Ive settled on these 2 set ups for now:
Main Tanking Progression Bosses - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LAM00...idczsGo:cdTzoc
- This one gives me a 2 minute shield wall and reduces the chance to be hit by spells by 4% (Unsure if these are really worth it, testing)
Off-Tanking/Adds/Trash/Farm Bosses - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LAM00...idIzsGo:cNAmMc
- This one gives me the most rage effective set up for all abilities and the most threat. You could also use the Major Glyph of Mocking Blow in place of Vigilance.
Realistically Glyphs are personal preference and can be changed at will.
Additionally after you have taken the core talents needed shown here: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LVZhZVItMx0didczsGo you have 12 talent points to place where ever you want.
** Please note that Imp Disciplines and Shield Specialization were used to reach Shockwave, once you place more talents in the prot tree you can pull points from them as desired.
