Random dungeon finder - role check

All of my alts have done enough randoms to earn the perky pug pet except my paladin. In I don't know how many hundreds of runs on my Dk as tank/dps, my warrior as tank/dps, my druid as tank/heals, and paladin as tank/dps, I've only ever not been assigned to tank ONCE. And it was on my druid where I ended up healing for a heroic FoS.

Short answer: I always tank.

At least in my battlegroup, if you check that tanking box, 2 things will happen.

1) You'll get an instant group.
2) You will tank....period

I've only been picked as DPS once when I ticked both boxes, I didn't realise it and ran into the nearest pack of mobs to tank 'em.
I think that I don't even bother hoping to be a DPS anymore. Instant groups for the yay!
