Stinky and Precious Combat Logs Needed!

After reviewing the combat logs of a friend from their recent ICC ten and twenty-five, I've noticed what I beleive to be critical strikes upon the tanks who are tanking Stinky and Precious.

If anyone has combat logs to confirm this please let me know, I'd like to find out what is causing this, I cannot find any buffs gained or debuffs applied that would lead to this.

I've got no log, alas. But in 25 I've only noticed a 'mortal wound' debuff reducing the healing received by 10% per application. Noticed no crits or other debuffs on me. I can't remember any buffs they gained that could have made em do something like this. (though I suspect there isn't any buff involved)

Are you sure the player in question didn't just accidentally sat down or something?

It was a combat log of four different tanks in ICC 10 and 25 man.

A few other people are starting to notice this as well, the timing of the crits are coinciding with applications of Mortal Wound.

I've noticed exactly this, too. But likewise cannot see a buff or debuff to correlate.

From a quick scan of WoL I just picked out the first couple of ICC reports randomly (so apologies if these are logs from someone who is reading this ) and they both show Precious critting:

[17:08:25.041] Precious casts Mortal Wound on Cebrail
    [17:08:25.041] Precious crits Cebrail *8951*
[17:08:25.424] Cebrail afflicted by Mortal Wound (9) from Precious
[17:08:26.197] Precious casts Mortal Wound on Cebrail

[18:30:39.247] Precious casts Mortal Wound on Galathwene
    [18:30:39.248] Precious crits Galathwene *8481*
[18:30:39.371] Galathwene afflicted by Mortal Wound (7) from Precious

These are both tanks with over 560 def(from the armory). Could be another case of higher than average crit chance for thses mobs? In the first log there Cebrail was crit by Precious 8 times, that's too much coincidence to be a sitting down error I would think.

Obviously not an exhaustive check but there is something definitely here.

Then I guess I stand corrected. Still not a 8-9k crit is nothing I'll lose any sleep over...

Unless perhaps you'd just been reduced to 10% of your max health? But surely nothing like that could happen...

Of course there's always a more worse case scenario Yesterday we managed fine with a couple of tank swaps on 10 man.

I'm much more interested whether or not the crit is a bug or intended (eg does precious just have a higher crit rating?)

Precious actually has a buff on it, some Ribbon or another. Is this affecting both dogs? Is it perhaps a hidden effect of the buff on Precious?

It's just a joke, as you can see he also has an actual ribbon stappled on his face

I didn't notice this, but we rolled over the twin kitties on tuesday without much trouble (after the first "lol naxx mechanics" death when we were laughing too hard in vent). Is this actually causing tank deaths for some?

Perhaps the controlled abom gets some attributes from it's controller, or from raid buffs?

    Excellent!

Thanks everyone, I think we have confirmation, now we just gotta find out why.

Darksend, I'll take a look and see what happens on Putricide, It may be as Swelt said and the Controlled Abominations inherit a Players Stats.

The Malicious Instructors in the Shadow Labyrinth had a similar mechanic: their crits always coincided with an application of Mark of Malice. I suspect that it's a property of the script for the specific spell that causes that. For example, they may temporarily be raising a mob's weapon skill to increase the chance that the special ability hits.

Mob spells normally cannot crit? This would be highly unusual.

It didn't cause any tank deaths, at least not in our run. I didn't even notice it till it was pointed out here, and then went back and searched the logs. As you can see, the crits aren't any higher than we, as tanks, usually take directly to the face. To me, its more of a 'why does this have to be a crit' type thing.

My trepidation with this theory is that wouldn't an increase in weapon skill high enough to trigger crits (over 415) also lead to crushing blows?

I agree, the crit factor makes it unusual, but at those damage levels i'm not entirely certain it's not intended. Of course that's assuming blizzard is willing to break with some of the laws of tanking.
