3.3 Feral Tank Best-In-Slot list and Emblem Pick Order

Click Here to skip directly to the emblem of frost pick order.

Since Blizzard was kind enough to put up EVERY drop from ICC, including the 10 and 25 man hard mode loot with the except of the Lich King himself, I have decided to go ahead and put together a brief list of what druid tanks should be looking for.

Preface, in ToC the hard mode offset items had an extra socket. In ICC the normal mode items ALSO have an extra socket when compared to the set items. Despite this the 4-pc set bonus for bear's is just way to important to pass up. This is reflects that decision and takes the gloves and shoulders from the set instead of the better offset items, as well as the set legs which are only slightly worse than the offset legs.

    EMBLEM OF FROST PICK ORDER:

Which will be slightly out of order to start. First let me say that since all of the set pieces cost badges now, unless it is something that will last you a very long time you are better off saving for your 4pc bonus.

It will take 310 badges to get your 4pc. That is a lot of badges. If you do the 3 new instances, a random daily every day, the weekly every week, and all 4 bosses of 10 and 25 man, you will have 146 badges when the new gate is opened.

If you clear through Putricide in 10 and 25 that is an additional 47 per week. That is 240 by the time the second gate opens if it takes 2 weeks. If the last gate opens 2 weeks after that, you can have a max of 350 badges.

It will probably take 3 weeks for each gate so realistically you can have your full 4 pc set, idol, cape, and trinket by the time you get to Sindragosa, or 452 emblems if the 3 week estimate holds.

3 examples where the upgrade does not justify the cost:

The World of Warcraft Armory (Shadow Seeker's Tunic)
-The 264 version of the best-in-slot chest is BOE, and it only has 16 less agi and hit instead of crit.
The World of Warcraft Armory (Vengeful Noose)
-Again comparing to the 264 version of the best-in-slot belt, you gain 16 agi haste and some extra ARP but worse socket colors and less AP if you use the emblem belt.
The World of Warcraft Armory (Cat Burglar's Grips)
-Compared to the, wait, you already have the set gloves because you need them to upgrade to the 277 version for your 4-pc set. You gain a socket with the emblem gloves but lost haste for crit, and lose some ap and arp.

Now to the items you want to get:

As always, this depends GREATLY on what items you already have for these slots.

Because of how valuable I feel the 4pc will be, and because of my current gear level, I will be buying my 4 set pieces in the following order before anything else:

The World of Warcraft Armory (gloves)
The World of Warcraft Armory (legs)
The World of Warcraft Armory (shoulders)
    The World of Warcraft Armory(helm)

The World of Warcraft Armory (Idol of the Crying Moon)
-My first purchase once I complete my set. It is 220 agi when fully stacked, 67 more than the Idol of the Corruptor (please do not tell me you were using the dodge one).
The World of Warcraft Armory (Sentinel's Winter Cloak)
-This is the best cape in the game until hard mode Prince, and even then I still think this is better than the 277 one listed above. However until we start doing hard modes I prefer the expertise on the LJ cape I currently have so will leave this till second.
The World of Warcraft Armory (Corroded Skeleton Key)
-If you have either version of the Satrina's scarab/Jug vit, hold off until you can get the one listed above from Sindragosa. I personally plan on using the heroic Satrina's + heroic Sindragosa's and probably will not ever buy this.

Can you produce a list that is not all heroic mode yet? Preferably just Normal mode. Or would you say to take all the same items at non heroic levels and then upgrade to the heroic ones.

The same list is the same list. You still want the sack of awesome, there's only one real option for bracers or belt and there are a couple options for boots. But really, that's it.

Also Bloodfall is a good choice - but don't skip on Cryptmaker - Item - World of Warcraft. Arpen and hit, huge strength and more stam than anything else here. It doesn't have agi, so it's not as good as bloodfall in general, but it may be a good threat/EH weapon.

Just as a head's up, I am currently working on a pretty big update to the list for people who only have access to 10 mans.

    http://mother-bear.blogspot.com/2010...pc-vs-264.html

For those 10-man only raiders out there.

In short, the chest from frost badges is still bad because the 264 drop is BOE. By using 2-pc 251 set and the 3 264 items, you gain 83 ArP, and 63 haste but gain 33 agi, 49 stam, 72 armor, 53 AP, 76 crit, 12 expertise, 100 hit, and 3 sockets.

One final note: hard modes will be out soon giving even 10 man raiders access to the 264 tier items. The hard mode versions of the dps loot ARE STILL dps loot. This combined with the new VOA boss dropping 264 gloves and legs (although in reality we still do not know how this will work) and you already using 251-helm and shoulders.... I think it would be a waste of gold to craft legs and badges buying either the gloves or the saronite for the legs if you have any plan on doing hard mode 10-ICC.

The list is pretty much what I had in mind, just wanted to get your thoughts on the hit.

As your list stands now you only get 114 hit from the chest. Although I love the stat weightings on Sentinel's Winter Cloak it seems that using Royal Crimson Cloak (+44 Hit) and the Ashen Verdict rep. ring (+55 Hit) would bring the overall hit rating to a more comfortable level at 213.

Who cares about hit rating for the hardest fights?

I think those are fine alternates, but armor is simply too good most of the time to sacrifice it for hit, and the rep ring is utterly ass.

Hit is garbage on bosses. And this coming from the biggest hit/expertise whore I know.

Basically all you need for hit is 5% due to all your melee swings being special attacks(Maul). Any extra hit is for taunt for which you can glyph(replace maul glyph).

So... why is Idol of the Corruptor better than the dodge one (it has a 100% uptime) whereas Idol of the Corruptor has a low uptime due to the Internal cooldown

Idol of the Corruptor doesn't have a low uptime. I'm not sure where you'd get that idea. It's not 100%, but it's quite high. The reason is that Corruptor provides agi - which is modified by BoK and provides avoidance, armor and threat. Mutilation doesn't.

Nevas, where did you get this idea that all you need for special attacks is 5% hit? That's the first I've heard of it.

That still wouldn't be correct, since those give +3% spell hit, not melee hit.

uhh, no, white hits, And yellow hits, all have an 8% chance to miss, you need 8% hit (combined between gear/talents/debuffs) to never miss with either your white hits or yellow hits. if you are dual wielding then your white hit miss chance sky rockets to 27% or so, but your yellow hit chance stays at 8%

Nah how it works is, that special attacks(shows as yellow attacks in combat log) only require a hit cap of 5%. 8% is the hit cap for melee swings, but druids don't use melee swings(we use maul instead{special attack}]. Even though you cap your melee at 8% they can still glance, while special attacks never glance.
There's almost a smidgen of correct infomration in here, but for the most part you're wrong.

The cap for white and yellow hit is 8%. It requires 8% melee hit from any source to take all misses off the table.

White hits, in addition, can glance. A glance cannot be taken off the table. I believe the glance chance is 28%, but I could be wrong; it's in the mid-twenties at least.

    Yellow attacks cannot glance.

I think it's like 24-25% felhoof for glancing at least that's what we've been preaching for the crit cap # in the DPS forums =P
