This is a list of references from the main guide. It’s a bit of a work in progress, and I’ll be adding to it as I can.

What happens when you have a Sudden Death proc active, and Mortal Strike is off CD? Which ability should you use first?
There are two issues to consider here. If you use MS first, there’s a chance you’ll miss out on another SD proc. On the other hand, if you use SD first and there’s no second proc, then you lose out on DPS because you delayed your MS.
To answer this question, we’ll look at 10 incidents of this decision occurring. If you always use MS first, after 10 incidents you’ll have used MS 15s faster in total, which comes out to gaining 3 extra MS uses.
On the other hand, if you use SD first, you’ll gain 1 extra Execute usage, on average (10% proc chance * 10 incidents = 100% chance to proc another). Also consider that you may have a white swing in the GCD between SD and MS. This is much harder to model, so instead we’ll look at the best case: you have a white swing in that GCD every single incident; this comes out to another Execute on average.
So we’re left with gaining 2 Executes if we prioritize SD, or 3 Mortal Strikes if we prioritize MS. This is a best-case scenario in SD’s favor, and even then, three Mortal Strikes do more damage than two Executes.
So we can conclude that prioritizing MS is more DPS.
