Ret DPS

Currently, retribution has been my off-spec. I recently got Edge of Agony (two-handed sword, 651 - 997 damage, 232.6 DPS, 3.50 AS) and added a Bold Cardinal Ruby to it.

My stats stand as follows (all unbuffed):

Damage: 1644- 2001
Speed: 3.19 (249 haste)
Power: 3422
ArPen: 328 (ignores up to 23.44% of armour)
Hit: 284
Crit Chance: 32.61%
Expertise: 23 (with Seal of Vengeance, glyph'd active)

Normally I pull sub-par DPS (normally around 3k), and this has been an issue. I focus on a FCFS "rotation", with Crusader's Strike always having priority, followed by Judgement (Wisdom or Light, depending), Consecrate, Divine Storm, then Exrocism. I pop Avenging wrath when it's feasible (i.e., I know the fight will take more then 20 seconds). I'm wondering why my DPS is so low.

Second, I just got Belt of the Impaler (+94 STR, +102 STA, Y Socket, +52 Haste, +58 ArPen) and am going to use it to replace Girdle of Razuvious (+75 STR, +85 STA, +74 Crit, +38 Exp). My guild is telling me not to put in two Precise Cardinal Rubies (+20 expertise) because I want to remain as close to the hit cap as possible. Should I put the Precise in or accept the loss of 5 expertise and go for 2 Bold Cardinal Rubies?

Well, first off your FCFS rotation should be CS, Judge, DS, Cons, Exo. You should time your AW to go off with Heroism/Bloodlust. If that's not possible, pop it as soon as you get a 5 stack of Veng/Corruption.

Replace your Glyph of Exorcism with Glyph of Consecrate. It saves you mana, and also frees up the rotation. EJ has the math/explanation of it. Retribution: 3.2 - Elitist Jerks

And lastly, ArmorPen is our worst dps stat, it's obviously better than nothing, and you'll unavoidably get some on your gear, but try and find items without it.

I also recommend using rawr! to help find gear upgrades. Just put rawr! into Google.
