    New to tanking, help please!!!

Ok, first off, I'm self proclaimed noob, I don't know everything, but at the same time, I don't claim to

I have decided to dual spec my lvl 80 Paladin to a tank. At the current stage, I'm still gathering gear, I do know I need that first, lol.

I need to know things like def cap for a paladin, a link to a good talent tree would be amazing. And a link or words about spell rotation, I'm not certain what things can be said in on this forum that would be flagged for "theory" or other things I've seen threads closed for, lol.

I currently have 10 pcs of lvl 200 gear, so I'm still a little bit away from ready for heroics, lol.

Thanks in advance for ANY and ALL advice!!!

Il try to help u a bit
Def cap for heroic is 535
Def cap for raids is 540
Spell Rotation is 969 you can read more about it here
    Rotation

3.0 Paladin tanks are encountering the beginning of the "969" rotation. At 80, this rotation maximizes ability uptime by alternating between our three 9-second cooldown abilities (Judgement, Holy Shield, Consecration, which are technically 8-second cooldowns but must be staggered by 1 second due to GCD) and 6-second cooldown abilities (Hammer of the Righteous, Shield of Righteousness), like so:
    1. Holy Shield
    2. Hammer of the Righteous
    3. Judgement
    4. Shield of Righteousness
    5. Consecration
    6. Hammer of the Righteous
    7. etc.
At 70, we don't have Shield of Righteousness, so there's a gap in the rotation. That makes a great time to use abilities like Exorcism, Avenger's Shield, or Holy Wrath, or to re-buff your seal. In addition, once an enemy is below 35% health, Hammer of Wrath fits into that spot nicely.
its a guide of 3.0 but the rotation is stil same for 3.2.2 (here you can find the full guide http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f64/4...patch-day.html)
Macro for the 969 rotation you can find here http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f14/4...-rotation.html

For glyphs if you ask me this is the best choice (i am sure of 1 tink divine plea is a must)
1.Glyph of Divine Plea - Item - World of Warcraft this 1 you realy need its a 3% les damage taken at all time divine plea should be always on.(or atleast almost always)
2.Glyph of Hammer of the Righteous - Item - World of Warcraft
3.Glyph of Righteous Defense - Item - World of Warcraft
minor is not that important for paladin personaly i like the 1 of LoH as minor but then u stil got 2 left
Enchants just get someting like my char xD WoW Heroes - World of Warcraft PvE character info & ratings

Just posted this in another thread:

    Enchants
Helm - Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector - Item - World of Warcraft
Shoulder - Greater Inscription of the Pinnacle - Item - World of Warcraft
Cloak - Enchant Cloak - Titanweave - Spell - World of Warcraft
Chest - Enchant Chest - Powerful Stats - Spell - World of Warcraft or Enchant Chest - Greater Defense - Spell - World of Warcraft if you need defence
Bracers - Enchant Bracers - Major Stamina - Spell - World of Warcraft
Gloves - Enchant Gloves - Armsman - Spell - World of Warcraft
Legs - Frosthide Leg Armor - Item - World of Warcraft
Boots - Enchant Boots - Greater Fortitude - Spell - World of Warcraft
Shield - Enchant Shield - Defense - Spell - World of Warcraft
Weapon - I personally use Enchant Weapon - Blade Ward - Spell - World of Warcraft at the moment, but a cheap alternative is Titanium Weapon Chain - Item - World of Warcraft

    Gems
Solid Majestic Zircon - Item - World of Warcraft in pretty much every socket.
If the armour piece has a socket bonus of +9 or +12 stamina aim to get the bonus.
For a red socket use Shifting Dreadstone - Item - World of Warcraft
For a yellow socket use Enduring Eye of Zul - Item - World of Warcraft
Meta use Austere Earthsiege Diamond - Item - World of Warcraft

    Glyphs
Glyph of Divine Plea - Item - World of Warcraft <- must have
Glyph of Righteous Defense - Item - World of Warcraft <- recommended if you have low hit rating, so your taunts don't miss
Glyph of Seal of Vengeance - Item - World of Warcraft <- must have, unless you're expertise capped which is unlikely

You can use Glyph of Salvation - Item - World of Warcraft instead of Righteous Defence, however due to the recent threat nerf I'm not a big fan of losing that much threat just for incoming damage reduction. It would be useful if you're tanking an add by yourself while everyone else is DPSing something else.

    As for minor glyphs
Glyph of Sense Undead - Item - World of Warcraft <- wonderful for undead fights. Extra 1% damage!
Glyph of Lay on Hands - Item - World of Warcraft
Glyph of Blessing of Kings - Item - World of Warcraft

Minor glyphs don't really matter much, except for sense undead.

    Rotation
    969. Hands down, best way to get max threat.

The basics behind 969 rotation is that ShoR and HotR are both 6 second cooldowns, with your other 3 main abilities, Cons Judge and HS, being 9 seconds or there abouts.

Without the other spells inbetween it looks something like this:
    (Shor) _____ (HotR) _____(Shor) _____ (HotR) _____

    With the other spells:
Judge (ShoR) HS (HotR) Consc (ShoR) Judge (HotR) HS (ShoR) Consc (HotR) ...
