Hit Rating question

known stats:

263 hit rating to never miss with a single, one or 2h weapon

886 hit rating to never miss while dual wielding

my question is this:

if you are dual wielding with, say, 300 hit rating, does your first 263 hr apply to your main hand weapon first and 37 is applied to your off hand or is all of your hit rating split between both weapons?

may be a stupid question but im wondering how hit truly applies to dw dk tanks

at 300 you are hit capped with abilities but MH and OH still miss cuz they are both not hit capped DW makes u miss more with both MH and OH weapons I believe

Yes. The 300 hit rating secures your yellow attacks. But your white attacks (auto attack) will miss until you reach 886 hit rating, because DW gives a 19% ( i believe, not sure though) hit penalty on white attacks only. So all your special abilities like, HS, WW, BL, Slam etc, will all hit when you have 300 hit rating.

All hit rating is applied to all weapons you're wielding.

You just need tons more for white attacks when you're dual wielding (= having a weapon in the Off Hand slot)

All the correct answers are above. =)

1.) Hit rating is not distributed, your hit chance applies equally to each swing and special.

2.) The higher hit cap for dual wielding is only the auto-attacks of your two weapons.

The miss caps are as follows for a DK tank **against a lvl 83/boss mob**:
8% = 2h auto-attacks, all melee special abilities (2h or dual wield)
17% = spell special abilities (taunt, IT, DC, HB)
27% = dual wield auto-attacks
