GM says I'm not ready, opinions?

First time poster, so here goes:

I'm in a casual guild with casual raids, and I rerolled pally for a easy tanking toon. A step away from my DK and IMO my pally is with hearty HP and decent avoidance. I offered to OT TOC10 and Ulduar10, but my GM says i'm not geared enough to take on such tasks. I'm confident in my ability to tank and I'm sure that I can take anything my other tank guildies can do.

Anyone know if I can improve anything without jumping into ulduar and toc? If I can't prove myself without getting my feet dirty in raids, I want to overpower my GM's word with gear.

Your gear is fine to tank Ulduar or ToC 10. The easiest things for you to upgrade would be getting a cloak enchant, and the Emblem of Valor bracers. The Conquest legs are also a direct upgrade of your pants. Other than that... it would pretty much be farming Naxx. If you're feeling frisky you could get the 7.5 shoulders from Emblems of Valor as well.

I'd ask him what he'd like improved in order for your gear to be adequate. Personally, I think you outgear both instances you are suggesting doing so you're absolutely ready.

Your gear is fine for that content. However you shouldnt think about asking for a raid spot until you finish up your enchants (back, weapon and shoulder) Also finish up getting all epic gems.

I'm with everybody else here, you do need a few minor tweaks as a matter of due diligence (enchants, etc.), but definately ready for the places mentioned.

It makes me wonder what specifically does your GM require you to have in order tank. It's always nice to be overgeared for content, but it's strictly not necessary unless doing something like hardmodes. Personally, without more information on what the goals of the run were, I question the GM's judgement in respect to readiness of a tank, especially if the GM is not a tank or has no direct experience healing you through a representative fight.

In addition to the upgrades that were mentioned earlier, there is the shoulders from HToC to look foward to.

Apologies. I looked at your armoury and then chuckled at your GM's suggestion. Is this about what is really needed for the raids you mention - cause then everyone else here is spot on - or is this about your GM's comfort level?

Bottom line. You are fine on gear, but do you have your GM's trust to get the job done?

honestly, i think you could do either-however if there were other tanks w/ more gear than you in my guild i would take them over you. No offense, but your shield is - well junk-trinks are okay, but id rather see you in more avoidance trinks than just stamina buff/proc trinks. only my opinion, but im sure you would do well in either if you had the opportunity.

your gm dosent know what hes talking about u are geared are ready for ulduar and toc 24% dodge is great for ot and mt

I suggest you get these two items made, as well as do what everyone else suggested.

Waist: Indestructible Plate Girdle
Boots: Spiked Deathdealers

I got into one of the top raiding guilds on my realm. We're clearing all content. I believe we're second in progression. I'm out geared by the other tanks, but the MT was impressed that I had those two items made and I know it helped me get a spot to raid with them.

The way I read this paragraph, it sounds like you already had a DK tank geared and ready to go. You decided want to tank on your pally instead, even though the DK is better geared atm? Maybe the point your GM was trying to make was not that the pally was undergeared for the instances, but less geared in comparison to your DK.

You say it's a casual guild, how do they normally deal with people wanting to raid on "alts". I know some don't care what toon you bring, but some people don't like it when someone gears up one toon, shelves it, gears up another and then proceeds to shelve that one, etc. etc.
