Blood Rotation (AoE and Single)

Hi,

I came looking for a decent blood spec and rotation.
I went to http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f14/4...rotations.html for the spec part and modelled mine roughly on the link given for blood, picking up Spell deflection instead of Subversion. I'm not entirely sure yet that that was a great idea.

However when I came to the rotation part all it says is ....
I'm a little confused because honestly between the various specs and things I've seen people suggest I'm not even sure whether or not I should be speccing into frost for Annihalation at this point and using Ob instead of DS.

So yeah, Single Rotation just something like IT PS HS HS DS, DS DS, dump Rune Strikes and Death Coils?

And AoE rotation...?

Also, if it's not too much to ask, I'm also wondering just how bad it is to aoe tank as blood in parties that like to aoe a lot.

For Blood there are a lot of variables that need to be considered before deciding how to tank them.

Blood Single Target Rotation: IT-PS-HS-HS-DS-ERW-DS-HS-HS-HS-Pest.

Make sure you have at least 50 runic power when using DS. Don't Death Coil if it will take you below 50 RP if DS is next on your priority list. You will usually have a HS to take you up to 50 before using DS to maximize it's damage. Of course if you have nothing else to use you're going to DS to get the runes on CD.

Group of 3 with focused DPS: DnD-IT-PS-Pest-HS-DS-DS-ERW-Pest-HS-HS-yadayadayada

Switch between the mobs and Heart Strike to your hearts content. My Pestilence may be in the wrong place, just keep an eye on your diseases and refresh as needed. For the bigger AoE pulls you would simply switch out the HS's for Blood Boils.

Personally I use Frost spec for AoE pulls and 5man runs, and Blood for Boss fights. Nothing beats the snap AoE threat of Frost when pulling trash, but I much prefer the mechanics of Blood for boss fights.

I'm not overly fond of frost.

I like Unholy because I like the easier AoE and I'm newer to what I'm doing, but I don't like that I feel...squishy, and without a lot of "O! ****" buttons (sorry language...i dont know what else to call them really though) or a lot of "need to get aggro fast" buttons.

I like blood because it seems to have a lot of self-healing capability, and a lot more survivability than the other two trees. It still doesn't seem to have the snap aoe of Howling Blast, but the counter for that that makes it okay for me is that it does have exceptional single target threat capability apparently. I know it has a little less aoe for the "non-experienced" tank, and requires more target switching, but that really isn't a problem as i figure the more experience i get the more comfortable i'll be with that, and i'm willing to learn.

You can also try the spec of my new DK, I recently got him to 80 and tank off and on when I have time. I have Unholy Blight in my blood spec and seems to work great so far in Heroics, I never had issues with AOE aggro (you still dont have snap like frost but its fine overall) till date.

Rest is your choice rotations remains same, just pop Unholy Blight as soon as you have RP to do it. Quite a few points in Unholy tree are fillers to get to UB so you can move them around if you like.

Be careful this spec is good till 3.2 and I probably will change once 3.2 hits.

No offense, but I wouldn't recommend a spec without Death Rune Mastery or Might of Mograine, and maybe without Blood Gorged. DRM is absolutely necesary to build a decent HS rotation, and IMO Might of Mograin and Blood Gorged are too big a sacrifice to get Unholy Blight, and On a Pale Horse and Unholy Command.

that's basically my talent tree from memory. armory is being a little retarded. or i should say my planned tree. I'm 77. I'm debating trading scent of blood for corpse explosion because it's recommended, but im not too sure i'll need it.

That spec looks pretty solid, as long as you have someone doing imp TC/IT on the boss, otherwise you really should spec into imp IT. If I had to put points into imp IT, I'd probably get them out of Scent of Blood, Mark of Blood, Epidemic, or Morbidity.

Corpse Explosion is fun, but it's pretty useless in Ulduar. It's even more fun if you cackle when you explode your guildies corpses.
