    Class Q&A Series: Warrior

World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Class Q&A Series: Warrior

    TL;DR
    • They want to go over the Arms and Fury trees in the future and revamp it like they did to the prot tree in 3.0
    • Give the rage mechanic another look
    • No need to increase shout durations
    • Would like to see demo shout more useful in PvP
    • Make prot generate more rage through doing damage
    • Change to block stat in the future
    • Fix the downtime while leveling

Overall not very informative and a lot shorter than other classes.

60 pages of warrior questions and no real answers... i'm glad i cancelled my account...

  4. Mm, the only interesting part for me was:

we also need to get players out of the mindset that it’s okay for tanks to ignore dps stats and just do trivial damage. They don’t need to top the charts, but their damage should be a meaningful component of damage done. We’re willing to change the way the game works to accomplish this goal.
I'm all for that - give us the tools to do the damage of those DK, Paladin and Druid tanks, and that's all good with me.

This is a major change that isn’t the kind of thing we can crowbar into 3.2 with a clean conscience. It is almost certainly the future for the block stat.
Yay for losing what makes block cool for another form of armor...

  6. No answers to the questions that interest me:

DPS as a tank? Vague answer without specifics
Block? We'll put it off until "later"
    Heroic Strike Spam? No answer

Well the block change needs to happen, though hearing that will be done not even 'soon', but 'later' is sad. Most of his comments are interesting, at least from the sense of seeing how blizz thinks.

My biggest concern was Ghosts comments regarding dps. Fury / Arms dps is drastically behind ferals, rogues and DK's and he doesn't seem to know it. (WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay)

Prot dps while tanking is abysmal, which he notes, but seems to think its minor and fixed with the laughable 5% bump we're getting in 3.2. Correspondingly our single target threat is also behind, even with the stupidity that is vigilance. (WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay)

And the giant pink elephant in the room, warrior aoe threat, which is so far worse than the other 3 tanks that we may as well not have it. Look at tps for fights with lots of adds, like thorim and freya, almost no warriors to be found in the top 20.

The problem with prot warriors today isn't the final results. Yes we can tank bosses, even hard modes, hell I've done so. The problems are with our quality of life while doing so. Also some notable imbalances in dps and threat output when compared to other tanks. Just because we *can* tank the boss does not mean it isn't easier with another tank.

On the bright side blizz is doing a much better job balancing the survival side of tanking. I'll toss that out there just so my post isn't entirely negative

Feral is just kinda OP right now.

But all in all, kinda bland Q&A sadly, nothing bad but nothing great either. Tis the way of the warrior I suppose.

I think that's pretty much been the universal response to these Q&As by each class.

The statement that was made on the Q&A frustrates me just a little bit. We shouldn't be ignoring threat stats and damage stats altogether but even if we cap out our threat stats (like hit and expertise), our damage and dps will still be very close to some of the other classes in their survival gear. I shouldn't have to switch out of my survival gearset to hold aggro, when I am still in a very dangerous position of getting 1shot.

But whatever, we have all made these arguements for a while now. Either way they don't seem willing to change that issue in our favor, so I will just accept my predictable Q&A and get on with life.

In Ulduar, we think warrior tank balance is about where it should be -- death knights were a little ahead, paladins were a little behind, and druids were about even with warriors.
    /boggle

he justifies this by saying that plenty of guilds still use warrior MTs in hard mode ulduar. which is true. But ensidia calls kungen the glass tank and hardly let him mt anymore. In premo's algalon video devium tanks it 80% of the time and xav was on CC duty.

If warriors are were they want all tanks thats fine I cannot argue that that is a blizzard goal for tanks. But druids are very far ahead of warriors still even after all the nerfs we have gotten.

/cry it seems they didn't even read the Q&A thread.

There's so many questions they coulda answered and didn't. Really, bad news at this point is better then the no news we got.

I do look forward to this supposed DPS trees revamp.

Yes, we were all happy with this. The whole point of the redesign was to make survival something passive, something inherent in the stance and gear that we used. And those talents were replaced with ones that were Shield Slam and dmg oriented.

    Wait, what?

These are such conflicting comments that my head literally spun around when I read them! And they're in the same post!

Does anybody here really think it's ok to do trivial damage? Anybody?! It was so disappointing to read something like this because it felt so out of touch and disingenuous at the same time.

What I am having a hard time understanding is.. there HAD to be better questions then this to answer..

I feel like this was a George W. Bush press Conference.

    am I missing something?
