How do you work out avoidance?

HEy i was beign asked the other day what my avoidance was so i looked on my tank helper addon, and it said i was 55% (not sure what it is now as my gear has changed) but when i told them my stats they told me i was wrong.

So how do you exactly work it out?

rounded up my stats are

26% dodge
19% parry
20% block
692 defence.

The stats on your 'C' screen do not show MISS or the additional chance to MISS from your DEF rating.

There is a 5% chance to miss and DEF floor adds another 5.6%.... so 55% was wrong.... 55.6% is correct :P

You will find that a lot of, not all, DPS know very little about what the numbers mean and will even insist that you need 540 DEF for tanking a heroic.
