3.1 confirmed for tomorrow!
It's finally here, and with a stealth buff to icebou... erm Shield Wall!!!
World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Extended Maintenance - 4/14

YES!!!
This is exactly what I wanted and suggested!
Glyph of Shield Wall: Reduces the cooldown on Shield Wall by 3 min, but Shield Wall now only reduces damage taken by 40%. (was previously a 2-minute cooldown reduction)
With Improved Disciplines and quite a bit of Block Value on the T8 set pieces we're looking at some excellent controlled damage reduction for both Magic and Physical attacks. This is a big step forward in that realm for Prot Warriors.
If we can get a nice Shield Sweep ability now to enhance our AoE threat a bit I'll be completely stoked about playing a Prot Warrior for years to come

This is exactly what I came here to ask about tonight.
Is the glyph worth it? W/imp disciplines I would have to drop deep wounds, but obviously, another minute off my shield wall might be better than the extra deep wounds 9% overall dmg or whatever.
Anyone have a clue? Guess the only other option would be to get rid of Focused Rage or another semi-tps orientated talent.

EDIT for clarity, usefulness...
Yes absolutely it's worth it for tanking progression content of Ulduar's level if your healers are good enough to compensate for the 20% difference. In my opinion, most should be.
The Glyph/Talented flavor of Shield Wall will be VASTLY superior for any encounters where damage comes in big spikes that are predictable and fairly frequent. Paired with T8 4pc Shield Block you now can erase a big chunk of damage you would take. This helps free up things like Guardian Spirit cooldowns too.
Lastly, think about the massive damage reduction this will equate to over time compared to a 5 minute Shield Wall at 60%. Every 5 minutes you're now getting 200% reduce damage taken vs. 60%. Sure, you can skew this by using the 60% Shield Wall for a particularly enormous attack, but over all a Prot Warrior is going to be much easier to heal with Shield Wall talented and Glyphed along with Last Stand. Why do I say this? I heal a very good DK quite a bit and this model ties in closely to their own reduction cooldowns. He's bar none the easiest tank to keep up I've every healer across every fight in the game. 50k hp druids left about the same I guess to be fair.
It definitely has some play for benefits and disadvantages depending on your raid scenario and play style, but over all I think the benefits greatly outweight the negatives.

I prefer to have a bigger "oh crap" button than overall mitigation that means shield wall will basically be kept on cooldown. But to each their own, it's a nice option to have.
I'm more interested in Glyph of Shockwave. That's one I use A LOT.
And dual specs, of course.

I suggest everybody watches the Ulduar trailer that was released... TIIGHHHHHHT

I think we will see a split in warrior tanks. Those that are the 100% go-to-guy for MT duties (whether its due to rank, experience, gear etc), I think will probably go for 2 prot specs. The other type of prot warriors are your offtanks, for whom it may make sense to take a DPS offspec.
In the case of the latter, with only 1 spec option, I'm sure we'll see lots of 15/5/51 continuing, either with a change to AoE-oriented glyphs, i.e. shockwave, cleave, vigilance (put it on an aoe dps and go wooow), or a mixture with some of the new cooldown glyphs.
In the case of the former, which I find myself in, I will definitely be taking a max survivability build 5/15/51 with commanding presence & max demo shout, and switching points from 3/3 incite and 2/2 imp revenge into imp disciplines & shield spec. Glyphs of LS, SW, and Blocking (or devastate for faster sunders).
For the 2nd prot spec... likely to go with 15/5/51 general build to provide more security on trash (dont want to rely on the other tank to solo-tank all trash on first clear).
Or a 37/0/34 unrelenting assault build for max threat & dps.
Prob will look like:
Ulduar Progression:
5/15/51 (boss) 15/5/51 (trash)
Last Stand Cleaving
Shield Wall Shockwave
Blocking Vigilance
Ulduar Farm:
37/0/34 (boss) 15/5/51 (utility-incite over shield spec, rev over discipline)
Revenge Shockwave
Heroic Strike Blocking (or cleaving)
Vigilance Last Stand
