Holding threat issues

Hi everybody,

I've recently started playing WoW again and have also done my first 10-man raids in Naxx, Malygos and Sath, but with a more advanced raid consisting of nearly everyone fully equipped with 25-man items (a friend of mine is playing there, thats why I am also there).

I spent much time in reading the nice guides here and learned many things (like the priority-system or looking for different tanking equips) but now, I'm in a desperate situation because of lacking tanking performance in these raids.

The DDs of my raid complained about my threat generating since the first raid and I tried to improve in this certain area, but it wasn't enough.

Now's the question, if I'm even able to hold aggro against DD, who are already pulling max dps (with other tanks, they can do it) from the beginning with my equip.

I'm not giving the armory link, because now I'm off-spec and trying to ease my mind with pvp. I'll try it in this way:

I know, that Omen isn't really accurate in terms of tps, but I'm always looking at it with fright, when the DD's catch up with me. It says, that I'm always around 3-4k tps average and patchwork was the only boss, where 5-6k sustained, peaking to 7k was possible (as already mentioned, in omen, not with wws parses - but, it is also an indicator for me).
Also, the DD are always high in omen, sustained tps of mostly 5k (Warlock).

The prio is always the same SS > Rev > CB > Shockwave > Dev with refreshing TC and DemoShout on the boss.
But in the last time Malygos, I have failed already in the beginning like this: taunt (the ranged dd had already dots on Maly from the beginning)> SS > Dev (Rev wasn't up) and Maly was already turning his head to the raid.
Vigilance is always on the DD with the most threat (in this example, the warlock).


Now's the question, if I'm that bad as a tank or are the other factors (Equip or the DD, because for them it is normal to pull full dps from the beginning - because their tanks can hold such threat) the cause of my misery?

However, I'm not more taken as a tank to the raids because of this and the raid offered me to be a DD, but I'm not satisfied of it because of my image as a noob-tank

Two things, do you have any WWS links to your Naxx runs and I noticed no mention of Heroic Strike. A large portion of your threat comes from it and it should be used to replace a white swing when you have the rage to do so.

I've got no wws on hand - someone made one in the last naxx run, but I was only taken as an offtank, so I think, that wouldn't be a good view of my probs. (the problem is also, to get the link)

And yeah, I've forgotten to mention HS at 40-50+ Rage.

Ah, thank you! It's been a while, that I've read the Forum Rules and forgot about changes in the last years

Well, your priority list is is good, the only thing I can think of is that you possibly not making use of every global and letting an ability slide when you should be spamming something thus accounting for poor threat gen.

On Maly, make sure you're using heroic throw as you charge him queing up a SS on the way in. Also helps if you have a midsdirect on you from the hunters.

One of the best things I can think of is to gather up your top dpsers and work on your chops in a few heroics. Raiding can make lazy tanks sometimes :-)
