Sort of. Though it makes me cry a little as well, since it's yet another hammer in the Engineering coffin.
It's not a huge upgrade over the Engineering Gun. So that'll still be great for entry level raiding, just like the goggles are. Plus you gotta use something before you get to Ulduar (and get it to drop).
It would be nice though if Engineering were as useful as it was in BC. Seems that aside from the novelty affect the utility effect is getting slimmer and slimmer. Just my 2 cents.
In BC, the engineering gun was BiS all the way till like BT. In other words, through 3 tiers of items. So it doesn't come as a huge surprise that they are changing that.

Hmm you lose some stam compared to the Shotgun, but you gain 27 str, 3 hit, and like 4-5 defense. I'll take it! :-D
