2% less spell damage is 2% less damage healers have to worry about healing. Maly is almost pure magic damage and ever little bit helps

Thats still more damage reduce than 2% armor against magic

Selecting a situational meta gem for one single fight is silly.
Malygos still does fairly beefy melee damage, extra armour never hurts. Granted you're going to take a bit from breath, but overall the 2% armour is a better choice.
