    3.1 changes: Unholy Blight, how can I fit it in?

    After hearing that Unholy blight and gargoyle will swap places, I thought it would be nice to grab unholy blight for a extra runic AoE dump, I don't think I would NEED Unholy Blight, I can hold aggro extremely well with a basic spread disease and butter howling, But I think unholyBlight could have potential, esspecially with Blood tanking, which I would like to come back to with the extra stamina.

    I can see this working in 5 mans, maybe heroics, assumeing Unholy Blight will help Blood hold the aggro, I get the feeling I'm a moron for not picking up lichbourne, just because I want a runic AoE, and 2% extra stamina/strength.

    hopefully the links worked.

    Perhaps I've gotten to 'excited' with Unholy Blight, and with pestilence no longer causeing damage, it throws into question frosts AoE hold.

    Any suggestions?

    I dont think the pestilence change will affect frost aoe that much tbh, we still got dnd/HB and the new BB. With your spec you are giving up 900ap from bladed armor plus 10% overal damage and 5 expertice from thundra stalker just to get ub. Your aoe dmg/threat might go up a bit but your single target threat would go down alot.

    Erm just realised you didnt have bladed armor in your current build
    Still 10% overall damage and 5 expertice is hard to replace.

    The Pestilence change, if it goes through, will affect all DKs, and the variance from spec to spec will be limited.

    It should have no long term affect on our threat since they seem to be buffing other contributions, but the problem is it will hit us where we're weak. Namely, opening threat is something we are limited on because in order to establish strong top end threat, we have to set diseases and Pest for group pulls. This change will cut out of our opening 3 CDs for aoe pulls (in my case about 40% off of my first 4.5 sec). This shouldn't do much of anything to single target threat, but as Unholy aoe is what I focus on for my team.

    I'm still not sure what they're are fixing by making this change, but I have to believe there's something else they are doing to Pestlience or other abilities to compensate otherwise it's just plain hurting DK tanks.

    The change to Pest is offset by the change to BB, in that you can still get early aoe aggro via IT->PS->BB->Pest->(insert UF rune ability here). Or there is still trusty old DnD->IT->PS->Pest.

    Essentially, the damage previously done by Pest is being moved over to BB, both of which cost the same. BB will now do base damage to all mobs in range, not requiring you to spread the diseases first. It will just require a little more thought into your rotation, and force your dps to lay off the aoe abilities for a few more seconds.

    That is not a balance. Like I said, it may net an increase in our cruising threat, but it is hurting our initial threat in any aoe fight (which is also the only place I use BB).

    I am already used to pulling what I can to buff my initial threat to cover, and this won't break the back, as it were, but it's all hurt, and I'm not sure why they're doing it. Plenty of changes I can see the dynamic balance shift, but this one I'm waiting to see the changes they haven't enumerated yet, and make no mistake, there's plenty more coming than the cliff's notes that were given.
