Here is a template for the best pre-10 man raid gear set.

This is not to say that you should not start raids until you have this gear, simply that while raids are on lockout, continue farming these heroics.

IF YOU SO CHOOSE, PVP items are almost always the best pre-raid items you can get, but i have always felt that farming pvp items should not be a requirement of raid pve tanking, and as such do not include them.

So while spec'd resto i managed to gather some off-spec gear for feral spec, along with a bunch of emblems i had no real use for anymore (not too much to choose from for druid HoTs healer imo) Now im a 39k HP (unbuffed) wall of fur. My guild wants me to bring my raid buffed HP to peak 50k for a sarph+3 run. Can you offer some tips/suggestions for gear/gems/chants i should be shooting for? here is my armory link The World of Warcraft Armory

Hopefully when you go look at my armory i'll still be in my HP gear intead of cat, moonkin or resto gear... i tend to switch my talents often.

While this is an awesome and very extensive list I wonder why the PvP gear is not listed as it is comparable to some and better then a lot for Druid tanking.

I refuse to pvp to pve, i could have included the WG mark items, but i decided not too.

Plus, with savage defense coming out, the lack of AP on those items, along with the lack on hit and expertise, make them a lot less appealing.

because of how significantly worse for tanking it is, its about the 11th or 12th best tanking weapon

depending on how savage defense works it may move up the list a bit but for now it is terrible for tanking

(edit: actually with savage defense it moves up to 5th)

but until the ptr is finalized i do not plan on updating the list

Sure its horrible for progression tanking, but not so bad its worth leaving out... taht and this says Feral Gear list. Not Feral Tanking Gear list /sarcasm

Hello, I am a resto druid that is rerolling feral for my guild. I have picked up a couple of peices here and there that were going to rott in Nax 10 and 25

I'd first like to thank you for taking the time out of your life to write this up so the rest of us noobs can simply come here and find best in slots.

Secondly I'd like to know how PVP gear factors into gear selection....seeing as I am a hardcore pvper and pve'er i have access to the PVP set (sitting currently at 75k honor and 2k arena points with a 1900 rating)

Third if its not to much to ask could you maybe refer me to the website you got the numbers for deciding best in slots or simply tell me the weighted values so I can enter them into WoWhead.

And Finally How much is gear selection going to change...from the looks of it agility and atk goes up in value and pure STA items (such as the polar belt) are going down on the list?

Again thanks for your time...completly understand if you don't want to anwser any of my questions

ATM, pvp gear is the best you can get, at least the belt gloves and i believe boots

i have not looked at the actual pvp set to compare however

NOTE: this is only for the same tier, hateful gloves are obviously not as good as valorous gloves, but the deadly gloves are much better

this is also ATM, its not the stamina change but the savage defense change that is going to make pvp gear bad for tanking, it has a lot lot less AP than normal gear, and even on live right now pvp gear is terrible for holding agro do to the lack of hit and expertise

as for the wowhead scale, i honestly dont know, i know what i prefer in my head based on what the rest of my stats look like, if you have 60 expertise skill already without a belt, then obviously my list is wrong and the best belt is the belt from 25 man patchwerk instead or the deadly pvp belt, you cannot accept anything blindly without looking at the rest of your gear

also i value expertise and hit much much higher than most guides to, as a druid before the stamina change you had so much more hp you could gem purely for it and still be way better off than warriors and paladins gemed exclusively for survival, that is of course going to change

finally i have a progression mindset, and stack stam, unbuffed i have 40K HP with 0 polar gear equiped, although i am a JC LWer, when it comes to ulduar stam is going to be the most important thing, doing iron council the add i was tanking in 10 man had the potential to 2shot me if i did not do certain mechanics of the fight fast enough, and that was with every stam buff possible with food and flask

How do you guys think the Nobles deck will be for tanking with the SD change? Loads of agi for dodge/crit/some ap/armor.

After looking at the gear list for tanking feral druids, i must agree with almost all of it. I find it hard to believe that Defender's Code is not listed at all or ranked amongst the top trinkets though. I have seen it ranked in the top 3 in many sites, I'm wondering if i should be using it or not now lol. Since I'm a LW that rules out the JC trinkets, so currently i have Essence of Gossamer, Denfeder's Code and Valor Medal of the First War in my bags, but i've been wearing Defender's Code and Valor Medal due to the fact that these two do not share a cooldown timer. Therefore, you can use them at the same time and boost your dodge a full 20% for 20 seconds.

I was just wondering if there was an explanation or reasoning to it missing or if i should be using a different set of trinkets over these two for tanking our weekly 25man Naxx?

I've used RAWR and your list here to see what the best feral tanking gear for raiding the 25mans. According to it, i am wearing pretty much most of it.

Helm - Hood of Exodus
Shoulders - Valorous Dreamwalker Shoulderpads
Chest - Valorous Dreamwalker Raiments
Back - Cloak of the Shadowed Sun
Wrist - Wristwraps of the Cutthroat
Hands - Dislocating Handguards
Waist - Polar Cord (trying to get something better, like Sharp-Barbed Leather Belt)
Legs - Valorous Dreamwalker Legguards
Feet - Boots of Vile Deceit
Weapon - Origin of Nightmares
Neck - Titanium Earthguard Chain (trying to eventually get Heritage or Boundless Ambition)
Rings - Gatekeeper and Keystone Great Ring
Trinkets - Valor Medal of the First War and Defender's Code
Idol - Idol of Terror

A question i have is, do i sacrifice the helm or gloves to get valorous for the 4 piece bonus set or is it even worth it, if according them, the helm and gloves are the best options for tanking feral druids? I'm also finding myself running in hit rating issues with the so called "best feral tanking gear", sitting at around 122 compared to our hit cap of 295. The only other option i can see around this is to sacrifice agility gems for more hit based ones.

there are a few things that i find myself disagreeing with (like stacking stam), but seeing as how this list was last updated before 3.1 was released (and it's called 3.08 guide), i think it's safe to say it's no longer up to date.

This list is still very much up to date, you have to have at least the best items of this list to start tanking in Ulduar.

As for stam... dodge does absolutely nothing for you when you are getting hit for a non-dodgeable 20-30k hit from steelbreaker. Or a non dodgeable 20k(with 400+ resist) frozen blows hit from Hodir. Having agility is good to an extent because of the crit and armor, but staying alive is far more important on the harder fights which boils down to Effective Health.

i agree with your second paragraph, but as for the first:

This guide will include all gear currently in the game including 25 mans.

the guide does not include all current gear, and is therefore not up to date.
