Thread: Trinket thoughts

  1. Trinket thoughts

    Hey i'm currently using
Mirror of Truth - Item - World of Warcraft Mirror of Truth
Loatheb's Shadow - Item - World of Warcraft Loatheb's shadow

I have been thinking and am wondering if
Anvil of Titans - Item - World of Warcraft Anvil of titans would actually be higher dps despite the wasted stats in resil

wondering what other peeps thoughts were on the matter

  2. Based on the comments in wowhead about Mirror of Truth - Item - World of Warcraft Mirror of Truth and Anvil of Titans - Item - World of Warcraft Anvil of titans the buff they give is the same so they wont proc at the same time - they can proc one after the other though - would suggest it depends on the fight stand and smack i.e. thad on proc is great on others where your moving being able to determine when you get the AP boost is a bonus - if you can why not take both?

Bkiddo has an excellent point re: the proc not stacking.

    Some quick (crappy) math
    • Given: If you currently have the Reflection of Torment buff, you can't refresh or proc it again.
    • Given: 10% of all swings have a chance from mirror, then 10% of the remaining 90% of swings have a chance from Anvil.
    • EXCEPT, it can't proc while it's up, so you're not even getting 9% chance (90%*.1) from anvil, it'd work out to be closer to... 7%.
    • Disclaimer: 7% isn't based on tests, just a guess based on how often crusader would proc when folks would DW 2 crusader enchants. It'll work for my crappy math(tm).

If we run with 7%, you're now wasting stats on resilience... AND only gaining an additional 7-9% chance to pop the buff for 10 seconds.

    Comparison (with crappy math)
    • let's use 2 minutes because that's the CD on Loatheb's.
    • In 2 minutes, an arms warrior with no haste is going to get 35 autoattack swings with a 3.4 axe (like my Betrayer) but only if he doesn't hit slam. If you slam, you get less.
    • At 6 second cooldown, you get 16 possible Mortal Strikes
    • since we're not using slam for this calculation, we're going to say 8 heroic strikes and 4 overpowers
    • To get that much damage into 2 minutes, you're gonna be BEASTLY. This is not likely to happen anywhere but maybe patchwerk and you're still not going to get this rotation this perfect.
    • 35+16+8+4 = 63 attacks.
    • let's assume your raid buffed stats are around 50% crit. Not difficult for a fully 213 epic arms warrior. I'm only half in 213&226 and I run just over 50%.
    • 63x.5= 31 criticals.
    • 31 criticals x .1 = 3.15 procs of mirror of truth for (ideally) 30 seconds with mirror active.
    • so your remaining 28 criticals have to occur in the 90 seconds that the buff isn't up (not gonna happen), and then you'll have 28x.1= 2.8 procs of the buff.
    • Worse, you won't be able to trace it because you won't know if it's mirror or anvil that's proccing.

    TLDR
At VERY BEST (which will never really happen) CASE, Anvil will net you 1000 ap for 20 seconds every 2 minutes and waste a bunch of resilience.

in ANY scenario, Loatheb's will allow you 670 ap for 20 seconds every 2 minutes, plus 1.83% chance to crit.

Oh, the only case I can think where it might be better is if you're fighting Loatheb and stacking Fungal Creep on you to get your crit rating above 100%.

Then the crit from loatheb's shadow is wasted and the anvil might proc enough to make it worth it... but it'd be situational at best.
