So this is my take on the currently hardest encounter in wotlk.
Let's throw down some facts The auras:
Power of Tenebron: +100% shadow damage taken
Power of Shadron: +100% fire damage taken
Power of Vesperon: -25% health
And the debuffs:
Disciple of Shadron: +50% fire damage
Disciple of Vesperon: Twilight Torment: 2-3k damage taken when you deal damage; +75% damage from Sartharion's breath
And what those will cause on the Fire breath:
Power of Shadron: 22k-28k
Acolyte of Shadron: 33k-42k
Twilight Torment: 57k-74k
These are the priority of tanks: MT: DK < Druid < Warrior < Paladin (48-50k Druid is prefered over DK) Drakes: Druid < Warrior < DK < Paladin (Doesn't mather that much) Adds: Paladin < DK < Warrior < Druid
The 2 general things that everyone should handle is to dodge the Lava waves and step out of Shadow fissures.
The one tanking adds should keep the adds away from lava waves so they do not enrage.
The one tanking the drakes should stand parallell to the main tank.
With his back against a region where there will not come any lava waves, and be quick to move the drakes away when the lava waves comes from the other side.
Bare in mind to always face the drakes away from the rest of the group due to breaths.
Additional spells that would help when the breath is incomming:
-Hand of Sacrifice from a paladin
-Roar of Sacrifice from a Hunters Tenacity Pet
-Power word: Shield from priests
However it doesn't really mather how many cooldowns you got if you can't dance.
The Dance -So how do you see when to dance?
You dont, this is a bug by blizzard it was intended to be shown as a debuff, which it is not. However you can see the effect the debuff does, when you are afflicted by Twilight torment (which have to be removed before getting hit by a breath from Sartharion or he'll one hit you) you will take damage when hitting him, when you do hit him the debuff is removed for 1-2 seconds.
-What do I do to remove it then?
well duuh.. as I explained the debuff is removed by hitting, but only for 1-2 seconds. So when you see that you got the debuff stop hitting until his next breath will arrive, when there is less than 1 second left for it to land you hit him with an instant strike to remove the debuff. This will differ the breath's damage by alot, enough to keep you alive.
-So when do I drag my ass from the wall and start to dance?
When the 2nd drake lands Sartharion will get a Shadow bubble surronding himself, this is your queue as the breaths will increase in damage then. When the 2nd is dead, you can step off the dance floor and hit the bar cause there will be epixx.
Furthermore the boss is tauntable so if you cannot get the setup for it, you could always have a tank pull his cd's then switch main tank and let him pull his cd's.
so the only way a warrior or paladin can tank this fight is by using other peoples bubble effects and stuff? But if we mess up our dance we die regardless, what ever tank you are . hmm sounds about right.
Ps you missed out that paladins have a shield wall too.
+ 100% Fire Damage Taken
+ 50% Fire Damage
+ 75% Fire Damage Taken
That works out as 2.75*(1.5*Base Damage)?
1.5*Base Damage due to Acolyte of Shadron (Causes Sartharion to do +50% Fire Damage, which is 1.5*Base)
What I'm wondering though, is wouldn't the Fire Damage taken debuffs both be calculated into the original damage taken? Rather than Stacking?
From what you've calculated, you've got 33k+(0.75*33k). Wouldn't it be the base damage that gets multiplied, rather than stacking on damage taken?
Thatd give a range of 45119.25 - 58005.75.
Atleast, that's how I thought it would have worked? No clue - So correct me if I'm wrong? :<
They do stack on base damage, and not on the enhanced damage.
Bare in mind that the maximum range is a worst case scenario, where all the drakes would be up.
This will not happen as you should be able to get the first dragon down before the 2nd lands, and the 2nd will be soon to follow.
However with the aura 100% it will dish out a good: 22k-28k before resistance which will be around 3000 if buffed, and that's before Shadron lands.
You might be right, however after the -16% damage reduction I get shadrons breaths are still close to killing me down as the -25% puts me down to 29k Hp
There are 2 ways to avoid getting 1 hitted, abuse the Dance bug or kill the adds in the portal so there are never 2 or more so you do not get the acolyte or twilight torment debuff.
If you're not a 50k+ druid you will get one hitted by the twilight torment+breath as it do hit around 50k, if you don't pop cooldowns or have enough dps to take care of the portals.
I will have to dig around further on the calculations, great reply though, made me think
