When to stack SBV + SBR gear
When does block rating (and SBV) become more valuable then other stats for pure mitigation?
39.3 Dodge Rating = 1% Dodge
16.39 Block Rating = 1% Block
49.18 Parry Rating = 1% Parry
so what this means is that when (hit size < block size):
1 block rating = 2.39 dodge rating
1 block rating = 3.00 parry rating
When (hit size = block size x 2):
1 block rating = 1.195 dodge rating
1 block rating = 1.5 parry rating
When (hit size = block size x 5):
1 block rating = .478 dodge rating
1 block rating = .6 parry rating
For example, I've found that for avg hit sizes of 3000, and with 1350 SBV:
1 block rating = 1 dodge rating
This doesn't include Glpyh of Blocking (although it could) or Shield Block (assume 25% uptime), but we could easily factor that into our calculation.
I'd also like to build a relationship between armor and block value. What's the itemization cost of SBV verses Armor? At a given hit size, when does SBV surpass armor for mitigation?
I'm curious if any tanks 'tricked out' in blocking gear have any WWS they'd like to share for some testing with how block scales and how much it mitigates based on hit size. Please share your unbuffed SBR + SBV too.
I'd like to maximize:
% full blocks
% total damage blocked
Loatheb is a fun fight for block testing. I see potential in Heigan, Noth, Gothik, and others.
Blizzard has hinted at blocking scaling out of control given the right circumstances, I'd like to identify these and build gearsets accordingly.
I can provide some WWS this weekend with me tanking a few bosses in a full block rating/block value set. Offhand it's about 90% or so coverage unbuffed, 1540~ block value unbuffed
