Thread: [A][A]US #56 Recruiting Holy Paladin & Resto Druid

  1. [A][A]US #56 Recruiting Moonkin & Holy Priest

Phoenix on Greymane (Phoenix Guild of Greymane) is looking to recruit several classes. The biggest need currently is for a Holy Priest and a Moonkin, we will consider the following:

    - Holy Priest
    - Moonkin
    - Enhance/Elemental Shaman (being able to play both is hugh)
    - Rogue

What are the main characteristics of Phoenix?

    - We raid 5 days a week, 4:30 per night. A maximum of 22.5 hours weekly during progression.
    - Efficient raids, a light raiding schedule dictates that raids are run as effeciently as possible to remain competitive.
    - Guild bank supplies repairs and haste/wild magic/mana potions.
    - Constant progression. Our Illidan clear was US 120th, KJ was US 80th, Malygos 5 minutes was 46th. We missed out on a would-have-been US30th Heroic: Glory of the raider as a warlock died at KT 5% back in January.
    - Loot council system, consisting of the GM and the two officers.
    - Stable environment. We have the same GM and the same raiding hours for 3 years now.
    - Populated server, Greymane has three Heroic: Glory of the Raider guilds.

If these are the characteristics you're looking for in a guild, read on for further details.

    1. Raid schedule:

We raid Sunday through Thursday from 8:30pm until 1am eastern time. We have stayed true to these raid times since the guild formed back in Januray 2006. We have never scheduled a progression raid outside of our raid times. We do not start more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule and we do not push more than 15 minutes past 1am. A lot of us have outside obligations and we do our best to not push our members past the limit.

Having said that, the current PTR strict testing schedule made us try to field raids on off nights earlier than usual so we don't miss out on content, and we have proven to be able to field a 25 man raid even during such times. We do not, however, plan on making a habit out of this. We will try to do it if Blizzard keeps this up on futre PTRs. However, regarding raiding on live realms, we have no plans of straying away from our normal raid schedule.

    2. Raid Environment:

We do not like wasting time, period. We ask for members to take care of their business ahead of time and dedicate themselves to the raid during a raid night. We have a 10 minute break around 2 hours in to freshen up. A lot of our members are able to contribute to the strategy development process when learning new content. If you are one who simply does as he's told, please do not apply. We are almost always working with content that has no reliable strategies released and need members who are able to observe and think critically.

The guild bank supplies members with repair costs and any potions needed for encounters. We ask for our members to supply their own flasks and food.

    3. Progression:

Our guild is about one thing, raiding competitively. We are never satisfied with where we are and are always looking to improve. We always expect our recruit to be better than the person they're replacing. This has been true as a recruiting tactic for 2 years now and we've been getting better results as more content is released.

    4. Guild environment and loot system:

We use loot council as our loot system, the council consists of the two officers and the GM. Loot is distributed logically based on things like attendance, current gear, performance ...etc. We have never once had loot-related drama, and we plan to keep it that way.

We are a very alt friendly guild as can be seen from our armory page. Almost every member has at least one level 80 alt. We do alt naxx raids every Wednesday clearing Naxx, Malygos and Sarth with 2 drakes. We encourage people to play alts or off specs to break the boredom and open more options for potential raid stacking needs, without the need to recruit.

We have several serious PvPers in the Gladiator range, but PvP is not our primary concern here. We are first and foremost about the PvE aspect of the game.

What we're looking for in a recruit:
We do not want a recruit to simply be as good as our current members, or be someone who simply wants to be told what to do and follow instructions. Instead, we have high standards for our recruit as we depend on them to raise the average skill level in the guild and drive us forward. I'm looking for a person who naturally satisfies the following charactristics.

Intelligence - This doesn't really mean "don't be stupid". You need to be smart enough to understand what's going around you. This becomes especially important when working on new content where everyone's contribution and observation helps the raid progress. The raid leader can't always instantly recognize a weakness, especially on bosses where the raid is split up to handle multiple sets of mobs, so you should be able to understand and analyze events around you and contribute to the raid's progression. Being previously in a raid leader/guild master position is a plus.

Self-motivated - You love the raiding game. A lot of us would raid 8 hours a day 7 days a week if our jobs allowed it. You don't need someone to tell you to use a flask/oil/food when doing content that requires it. During progression, you'd respec for bosses just to gain that additional hp, or chance to resist fear, or chance to stun. You should be constantly researching your class trying to better yourself. Generally, you enjoy being in a raid instance and killing bosses.

Reliability - We don't recruit for the bench, we have enough casuals and alts to warm the bench. We depend on our members to make our raids. You should be able meet our raid times on a consistent basis, when you can't, you would normally let us know ahead of time so we can work around it. Nothing is more frustrating to a raid than to log on and find out someone didn't log on, deeming the raid not capable of doing what's scheduled for the night. It's overly frustrating when we would have worked around it had we known ahead of time. 90% attendance should be normal for you, if you can't sustain that then please do not apply.

Skill - You should be able to play multiple specs of your class in a raid environment. That means anything from pushing high dps, to spellsteal tanking, to interrupting casts, to coping with different movement requirements for different boss fights. The introduction of dual spec opens up great opportunities for one person to be able to full fill several raid needs; dps when more dps is needed, switch to tank if an encounter needs additional tanks, bring an alt healer if we're missing another healer...etc. We don't require members to have level 80 geared alts of every class and be able to play every spec, but some diversity in playing your main character is definitely a plus.

Efficiency - We ensure our raids are as efficient as possible, we keep the downtime to a minimum. During progression, we may try to keep the same 25 until we get a kill. If you have children or family pets that require constant attention during raids, if you get off work 15 minutes before raid time, if you run to a coffee shop to make raid times, please do not apply. You should be able to do all your daily needs ahead of raid time and dedicate the four hours to raiding. The only thing worse than raiding with bads is raiding with afk'ers. You should be living somewhere where you are able to comfortably make our raid times so you can give the raid the time and attention it requires.

Gear - This doesn't mean have every best in slot piece in the game. What we mean by this is you should choose your gear, gems and enchants intelligently and your raid set should reflect that.

If this sounds like you, apply at Phoenix Guild of Greymane.
