Yeah its a nice spot. I've been farming cloth here for the wife to get my 20 slot bags made. Drops some nice mana and health pots also.

I've been doing this area for a little while too. Seems quite popular on my server with Mages and other AoE grind classes.

It's also not a bad green drop spot, about 1 per pull average. I noticed in the video some of the mobs leashing back, what i do is start at the outside corner of any table do one lap around then hook through the middle, it pulls all the mobs either dirrectly or through social aggro and non leash.

There is also a decent spot east of there like just a few yards away, normaly use this spot if there is always alot of people on the spot in the movie.

I've used this spot for a while. With two of the Hand of Justice heirloom items, you get 4% health back per mob killed, so there isn't any downtime. I also hit the death knights on the terrace below, you can pull like 20 of them or so, but it takes more creative play and timer usage to get them down, as they use a ton of spells. But when done correctly, you kill all the runesmiths, fly down, kill the dks, fly up, kill the runesmiths, and repeat!

I tried this out last night and had a huge amount of fun! My biggest issue is looting before respawns hit The cloth and greens were fed to my mage for tailoring and enchanting skill ups, which were much appreciated!

Thanks I gave it a go, it was fun-ish, but I must have been unlucky with drops, just a few cloth scraps, a bit of frostweave and some (not very exciting) vykrul bones. Will persevere since other people have done well with drops - ty!

Yeh I leveled my last 3 levels there with friend healing on my Protadin! It took so little time to get lvl 80 on farming there ^^

Anyway GL for those brave souls who keep on aoe farming there.

There's also another spot I've found that's prime for AoE grinding in Shazolar Basin. If you are in good standing with the Oracles, you can get a daily quest to kill 30 frenzyheart. This quest involves taking an item and "charging" it at one of those huge pillars in the zone. When you get to the area you are supposed to kill the mobs, you use the item to give you an insane buff that heals you everytime you deal damage and adds about 1300 damage to every attack you do.

Around NW of the frenzyheart's camp (inthe far SW of the zone) is a large circle of these mobs. Simply "charge" up, and pull them all. 2 Tclaps and 1 shockwave later you'll have about 25 dead mobs all fully itemized with gold and loot. The mobs repop quick too. As long as you don't turn in the quest, you can do this forever, as the item used to buff you doesn't vanish.

This place seems to be nurfed as of tonight, just drops bones and silver. I finally realized that is was a good way to make gold and now just some hours after I started to grind here they put in a "hotfix" great... Anyone know another good spot to aoe grind as prot?

Thank god, I thought it was just me, any link to an official post saying they hotfixed it. I went from getting 1-2 greens per group tons of greys stacks of potions so forth, to just the silver and bones like you said.

I posted the following on the Customer Service Forum in the Faxmonkey thread:
At 6:00pm PST last night I was farming Skeletal Runesmith's and Umbral Brute's in Icecrown. They are the mobs that have a 60 second respawn. I would be able to farm 200g (coin and vendor trash combined, 15 stacks for Frostweave Cloth, random greens and potions per hour. Then I log on at 2:00am PST this morning and all the mobs are dropping is simple coin and the occasion Vrykul Bones, effectively dropping the gold earned per hour from farming them down to 75g tops. Was this an intended nerf to the area? I notice that other mobs in the area continue to have normal loot tables, although they don't have 60s respawns. This area required a good amount of skill to farm effectively. In fact, I would even respec specifically to farm the area to be as efficient as possible. And with the ~3600 Frostweave cloth it takes to reach 450 tailoring not including first aid, etc, it was a great place to farm the cloth. The hard-hitting mobs coupled with the fast respawn time meant that a player had to have a decent amount of skill to farm it. So why was the place nerfed? I talked to a GM about the area and he said that several aoe spots were targeted for changes due to being abused, but said that this specific area wasn't mentioned. Given the skill it takes to farm the area along with the fact that I've ever only seen one other player farming in the area at the same time on my server (and he was dying a lot and eventually gave up), it doesn't appear to me that this area was being abused, nor exploited.
The following was a reply from one of the developers:
Those creatures were found to be providing rewards out of line with their level, density and difficulty so they were altered, that's all. I apologize if this impeded your farming, but there are still plenty of methods to acquire items, currency and cloth in Northrend =).
