I'll be editing in boss information, particularly for Ymiron, as soon as possible. This post will be moved to a special forum going up in the near future. A Stratholme timed guide and almost all 10-man raid content will be going up as soon as voiceovers and encoding are done. Where possible, I will also upload YouTube versions. Thanks!

Nice guide, good to have a heads up even if it'll be a bit before I get into the heroic version. Grats on the sword!

Proud owner of a single target taunt as of 1/20/09

On the gauntlet boss during whirlwind, if he heads to a different party member (all of which should be moving) you can taunt him back to you temporarily before he heads back to his original "whirlwind target" allowing them plenty of time to escape. If his target is you, you can just disarm him. Saves on all the running you have to do

Darkbane is triggered by attacking the boss while he has the buff up. You just have to stop all DPS for I think 10s to NOT trigger it. I think this is the case (we did some experimentations last night on heroic mode).

A little fast on the reply-button there… If you DPS i high enough he won't have the chance of getting the Darkbane buff which I think is the "easy" way of doing the achivement.

I was also going to say quite a good walk-through. Is there a lot of interest of these kinds of movies out there? I've been thinking of putting together similar ones my self.

I'm sure there is. The Zul'aman raid movies got a lot of views, so I've been putting together the raid and heroic guides for Wrath as a result. If you happen to be in 25-man content, you're a step ahead of me at the moment and raid guides would be very valuable.

Nice video imo. Some comments on the fights and things I've learned to do:

The sorrowgrave fight is a bit of a walkover imo, and lame in the way its flys at percentages which just drags out the fight. Just check people have done the instance before at the start of the run and if your dps hasnt make sure they dont all stand on that platform when its flying going "oh what does this do?"

2nd boss encounter, halls of trophies I think its called. Only ability I look out for is the bear boss thing has a sort of random aggro enrage buff on itself. I think the tooltip said something like changed movement speed and attacks targets randomly but not completely sure. Just something you want your melee to be aware of and running out for or it will turn around and squish them pretty quick.

The gauntlet boss while ye use what you have I kinda think having an offtank in a 5man (which a lot of people wont have) takes a lot of the difficulty out of it. One thing I do is try to move up and pull the next 2 mobs standing there when a set of 2 adds are running down and they are in a group just so I can pick up all 4 at once with thunderclap/shockwave etc and not have to worry about picking up 2 adds when ive just put those abilities on cooldown.

Last boss main thing is to move away from the disco light on the floor thing. Banes a dmg shield like someone said and its random if he will even use it or not (or on a generous timer maybe). If peoples health is low on phase changes just stand there (or run away a bit even) and let him come to you since it will give the healer time to recover (assuming your threat lead can cope with it).

I think in general if you are going to do more of these videos you might wanna take undergeared alts (if those exist yet I guess just find some slow levelers). Once the dps gets too high it makes things trivial and you cant really see the encounters because stuff dies too quick. And I'd guess that people benefiting from these sorts of guides will be less likely to be in a group who have already farmed heroic gear so they'll actually have to deal with the encounter rather than just zerging the boss before he can use any abilites. Its more useful imo (but maybe less impressive) to see you having problems with an encounter and dealing with it than just a clean quick kill.

Yeah, I've enjoyed getting a in-depth insight into the game with out going e-peen / I'm superior to the rest of the world hardcore. We cleared SWP week after patch 3.02 and are raiding 10 man Naxx at the moment so I guess where in the upper quarter of progress but by no means remotely close to really progressing guilds.

I've also found some heroics to have a twist to the of the harder kind. Last boss in Halls of Lighting made us even have to discuss some tactics. Given I was surprised we got the timed achievement for killing him the first time, he had a level difficult to him even for us "SWP raiders".

Anyways, short but good guide. I'll see what I can come up with in the future. There is the issue of time always. Oh, [ame="http://files.filefront.com/TNE+ZA+Timed+Event/;10089575;/fileinfo.html"]TNE ZA Timed Event - FileFront.com@@AMEPARAM@@http://static1.filefront.com/ffv6/player/vp_embed.swf?v=607211@@AMEPARAM@@static1.filefront .com/ffv6/player/vp_embed.swf?v=607211[/ame] run back in the day, something to enjoy on a rainy (or as here snowy!) day

I do pretty much everything to which Cider did up until the last pack of mobs. I wait for one wave to come out kill them and then pull the last pack into the room where the mobs spawn. This helps a lot with the ranged mobs and cause a lot of control. As long as your DPS wipes up the 3 mobs the respawning mobs are a joke and you can basically take your time in that room and not rush harpoons.

I found this to have the best results. Something to note also is if your in that room the ice breaths do not reach you at any point so there is no worry about that. The only spot not to stand there is in the door way.

I've been doing some pug heroics, not ideal but when you have no guild healers gotta do what you gotta do. Anyway my comment for the harpoon boss was he's fairly predictable, he will 99% of the time he will breath the opposite side of where he last breathed I think only once during a wipe did I see him breath in the same place twice. Anyone else noticed this?

Perhaps! Unfortunately it was 2 minutes too long for YouTube time requirements (max of 10 minutes) and I'll need to re-encode it, which is a painful process in terms of time. I'll need to finish off the rest of the Naxx movies before revisiting this recording.

For the last boss here, each of the four coffins or canoes, whatever you want to call them, grants the boss a certain ability. The South East boat gives the boss the ability to summon the glowing ball which pretty much just chases you around and does point blank area effect damage. The South West boat gives the boss an ability that increases damage taken by the tank, and it stacks. On normal difficulty, it increases damage taken by 200 per stack. Have yet to see it on heroic so I do not know how much the debuff increases damage taken by.

The North West coffin appears to be just area effect damage, point blank on the tank I believe. In the number of runs I've done through here, I haven't noticed anything besides the healer saying multiple people are taking damage.

The North East coffin gives the boss the ability to summon adds. On regular, he summons four adds that have the tiniest bit of HP, they were killed by a single shockwave. I'm not sure how it works on heroic, i can only assume the adds have more HP.

    King Ymiron's Abilities:

    Bane
    Dark Slash
    Fetid Rot
    Spirit Burst
    Spirit Strike

Not sure if I linked the heroic versions of each one, but you get the point.

One to watch out for especially is Dark Slash....it can take you from full to 50%. This followed by any of his other abilities can be lethal quite easily.

I haven't really been watching (I've only done heroic once so far), but I'm sure Fetid Rot is cleansable.

Also, not sure if anyone said this, but Bane can be spell stolen if you have a mage. Makes incoming damage a ton easier to deal with.

And as Tulkus mentioned, he does gain more abilities as he goes up to each coffin.

    Great guide Cider!

I would like to add a possible strategy on the third boss (Gauntlet). It is something I have been doing successfully for the past 5 runs or so.

Start running towards the end, where the 3 harpoon guns are located, right away. Use your Thunderclap / Shockwave Wisely, and be sure your healer only heals you with direct heals (you will get slowed down from the mobs, making it possible for heals). When at the end, AoE taunt the whole group + the 2 that spawn at the exact moment you get there and say so in vent. AoE (while being positionned on the right side...the breath should come down a few seconds after you get there) starts and bring down the pack asap. Then all you need to do is grab the 2 that spawns every few second and go left or right.

Be sure to have someone tell you over vent / chat when the last Harpoon is about to leave. He will start hitting your healer right away unless you taunt him. Focus frame might help here, altough I haven't tried.

This technique might require you have a bit more health up front, but I've been doing this in only crafted + heroic gear. Started working at around 24k health or so.

If you burn him down fast he will never cast bane. He casts it after 20 seconds every 20% of his life, but if you burn him down before he hits the 20 second mark he will not cast bane.

Also, a very simple strategy for Skadi as long as you have a Paladin Tank for AOE.

Have your 4 party members stay in the room where you just killed the 4 mini bosses and the Magnataur. Have the tank run and aggro Skadi and then run back into the room where your party members are. Stay in there for 5-10 seconds and Skadi and his adds will dissapear. Have everyone then run to the harpoons at the end of his Gauntlet. When Skadi resets, have your pally tank positioned at the door where all the adds spawn and put up a consecrate, then have someone start the event at skadi and AOE all of the adds at once. This makes it MUCH simpler.
