You missed a few items.

Shoulders

Crusader's Square Pauldrons - Item - World of Warcraft
Tempered Saronite Shoulders - Item - World of Warcraft
Tundra Pauldrons - Item - World of Warcraft
Bone-Polished Iceplate Shoulders - Item - World of Warcraft

All easy to get while levelling and some are fairly comparable to the items you get at a higher level (I'm just hoping none of these items become the Fleshmaster's Greaves of Northrend

).

Well it is a 2:1 ratio now. Balance it out with some old school SBV items and you should be fine.

How is Signet of the Accord a pre-raid item?

Also, all other gear lists like this I have seen lists the best item on the top, with #1 before them, not at the bottom with a #6 before them...people might find it confusing.

Originally this list I made just for myself, just did it in my free time at work and whatnot, so wasn't intended to be perfect for sure. I was just sharing my work with the forums, figure it couldn't hurt and might help someone.

I took that ring out, true it's not really a pre-raid item, lol. When I make lists for me it's based on how I think and read lists, I go by the top of the list and work down. Also I simply look at the Required Level first, so that is why that number is first.

Quick question, the weapon reward from: 2. (74-Quest 'Wanted: Ragemane's Flipper'-Dungeon:Zul'Drak) [Replaces Brutalizer]. That axe is 2.6 speed. He offers 2 other "tank" weapons, a mace and a sword that are both 1.6ish speed however they lack expertise. Should I go with that slow axe over the faster alternatives?

This probably deserves it's own search and/or topic - comparing fast vs slow main hand weapons for tanking after 3.0.2 itemization/skill changes and now WotLK. As for expertise, it's a valuable stat for ANY melee class so it's inclusion on an item doesn't outright indicate that an item is tank specific. You'll find a lot of Wrath weapons that could be tank suitable are tending back toward the slower end of the spectrum.

I'm finding myself using my Decapitator from Kara more often than the King's Defender due to the Orc axe racial expertise bonus and because Heroic Strike is simply not as much a part of my base DPS output as it used to be. Then again, I'm planning to have replaced most of what I'm currently wearing before I hit any content that requires gear min/maxing.

Fast weapons do more damage and more threat (assuming plenty of rage) than slow weapons unless there is a huge difference in their dps (this is due to being able to spam heroic strike and cleave). Unless you need avoidance and your slow weapon has it, then stick with fast weapons.

If you're rage starved then you may be outgearing the instance.

I agree it could be its own topic. I put it in there because it is definitely a tanking weapon, and would be optimal in certain situations or where you may need it for the stats on it. At a glance, to me it seems it would out threat the Brutalizer because of the expertise and the added strength.

Great job Root! I love lists, and as I'm not speed leveling to 80 like everyone else I 'd like to stop and check what's available down the path. Completed all quests in Borean and now starting in Howling Fjord at lvl 73

3 things:

1. This list would be even more helpful if you included lower 70's gear, so it becomes a leveling tanks guide to gear. I know many tanks race off to 80 and start gearing for the endgame stuff, but for that there's Polar's pre-Naxx list. This list woud be great for us other slow levelers

2. Some inconsistency in your ranking, would be nice if all chapters were ranked in the same way – like starting with first lower level piece as number 1and cont down to lvl 80 stuff.

3. Realised myself that a lot of the Blacksmith stuff is very good for mid 70's (Tempered Saronite gear), and I couldn't find any in your list. That's where most of my T4/Kara/badge gear goes out the window.
