I tend to like items that are heavy on one stat because you can knock out a ton of what you need in one slot. Here, its def. This will carry you a long way to crit immunity and give you freedom in other slots. Imagine having this bad boy to whip out for resist fights where you are droping stats for resists in many slots....like going at Hydross crittable....eep, but here, throw this bad boy on and you're golden.

BLEH. given the difference between old lvl 60 shields and lvl 70 ones i expected a base of 8k armor on lvl 80 epic shields and atleast 75 stamina.

Well, don't forget that the 64 defense rating is the equivalent of ~30-31 defense rating at level 70. (19.5 defense skill = 2.34% avoidance, 0.78% block, 0.78% crit negation.) So it has just a tiny bit more defense skill than the Bulwark of Azzinoth or Kaz'rogal's Hardened Heart do at 70. (So: not bad at all, but only made out of high-grade win rather than 100% pure win.)

The badge shield appears to be the same level and looks better itemized (at least from my tbc perspective).

Yeah....the AC seems a little low. Really, this is a 'serviceable' shield and at this stage of the beta, sounds pretty good. This shield will carry you into early raiding and be a decent back up for instance, resist fights.
Fitting with the Titansteel theme, its like an entry level epic. I like it. I hope they don't stall us out like they tend to do and don't give blacksmiths further options but at least we have the socketing deal....that's pretty hot.
And yeah, the model is definitely awesome looking.
Surely your experiences with the [item]violet signet[/item] have taught you that things with the Dalaran logo on them upgrade nicely.

This is the badge shield people are talking about. A nice shield; seems the titan shield will be a good (hopefully not to pricey) starter shield, with this as an upgrade\sidegrade alternative. More "other" stats (hit, dodge) on the badge shield, less defense. Other stats are awfully close. Same AC, block value, but a little more strength and stam on the badge shield to compensate for the lower defense on it. I'm hoping the Kaz shield graphic is simply a placeholder, though.

I assume the Titansteel stuff will stay bind on equip. Smelting Titansteel currently has a 20 hour cooldown per bar.
The badge shield is quite a bit better already and doesn't seem to be too hard to get (Naxx 10 man).
they need to fix that shield too....
the itemization on it besides the block, armor, str and stam are horrible. those ratings convert to shit at level 80. they should be nearly doubled imo.
