are better even without a scroll than eternal defender. the only place defender wins out is when you're stacking block gear or need some block.
Assuming scrolls are worthless when used in conjunction with the Eternal Defender because the proc knocks them off, are any other comparable rings therefore superior to use if scrolls are an option? Basically, you can add 300 armor value to any other ring you have, and then make the comparison, right?
So that leaves your choice as being:
Band of the Eternal Defender
+43 Stamina
+30 Defense Rating (+1.52% avoidance)
+44 Shield Block Value
Proc for +800 armor for 10 seconds
VERSUS: (Just a few options off the top of my head):
Seventh Ring of the Tirisfalen
300 Armor (+668 Eff. HP at 21000HP/18500AC)
+37 Stamina
+17 Defense (.86% Avoidance)
+24 Shield Block Rating (+3.04%)
+24 SB Value
Band of the Abyssal Lord
300 Armor (+668 Eff. HP at 21000HP/18500AC)
+53 Stamina
+27 Defense (1.37% Avoidance)
+21 Hit Rating (1.33% Hit)
Signet of the Last Defender
300 Armor (+668 Eff. HP at 21000HP/18500AC)
+45 Stamina
+28 SB Rating (3.55%)
+42 SB Value
Ring of the Stalwart Protector (probably already in your #2 slot, though)
+692 Armor (!!!!)
+45 Stamina
+28 Dodge Rating (1.48% Avoidance)
Obviously, the relative value of the armor would vary based on your current armor amount, but has anyone seen this looked at closely? I can crunch the numbers, but if it's been done elsewhere, I won't waste the time. This just kinda struck me, because I've always considered the Band of the Eternal Defender to be a no-brainer to go in almost every set I own.
