Thread: One more piece of badge gear...

  1. One more piece of badge gear...

I have enough badges for one upgrade. Which should I get?

    [item]Ring of the Stalwart Protector[/item]
    Upgrading...
    [item]Signet of Eternal Life[/item] or [item]Andormu's Tear[/item]

    [item]Unwavering Legguards[/item]
    Upgrading...
    [item]Wrynn Dynasty Greaves[/item]

    [item]Bonefist Gauntlets[/item]
    Upgrading...
    [item]Iron Gauntlets of the Maiden[/item]

  2. It really depends on what you want. The rind is probably the biggest upgrade for you if you are looking from some EH and armor. The legs are very nice and will last you a long time, and the gloves are a great threat piece if you find yourself lacking in that department.

  3. Also, Im on Scarlet Crusade on the Alliance side with Reborn. Im guessing you are Horde side?

  4. Nope, I'm alliance.

  5. hrm... yeh that ring would be a huge upgrade over the stam ring for Avoidance, and a huge upgrade over the andormu's tear for EH. You can swap it in between the 3 depending on the fight...

Unwavering is a big upgrade, but wrynn's are not terrible, I'd go with ring, then unwavering, then bonefist in that order.

Agree with Kaze. I'd consider the 2.4 badge legs over the 2.3 ones, if you have the choice (but either should come after the ring)

The Ring would be my recommendation and I'd skip the Unwavering in favour of the Sunguard Leggings.

  8. Vene has a very nice badge pick order at Tankingtips.com. If you have any questions in game since we are both alliance, you can send me a tell. This is my tanks name.

  9. Yeah, I've reviewed Vene's list. But it can't tell you how much of an upgrade each piece is over what you currently have.

Also: The reason I was going 2.3 over 2.4 is that I am almost always OT, not MT. Therefore, the avoidance may not be as important as the increased threat. I dunno.

  10. but i thought the 2.4 legs had expertise? that's always an upgrade in threat too.

  11. True. But I'm at like 34 as is. I dunno. I guess I'll go ring first, and then worry about the Legs. Maybe I'll get lucky and get T5 and then leg's won't be so pressing

Sungguard Legplates would still be an upgrade. Get them. They are without a doubt one of the best badge items available period.

  13. Gah. I just don't know. Seeing as how I'm not tanking any bosses except in 5 and 10 mans, I just don't see the point in having 40 expertise and uber-avoidance. In 5/10 mans, MTs often take OFF avoidance gear so they can keep up threat wise without getting rage-starved.

The legs seem and feel like huge upgrades, both of them. Meanwhile, I look at the ring... and it's 400 armor and 1.5% dodge better than my stam ring. Which is great, I know.... but is it all that much really? Tanking trash in SSC, MH, and BT (which is what I do) I have yet to ever die due to taking damage. But I think if either the [item]Seventh Ring of the Tirisfalen[/item] or [item]Ring of Sundered Souls[/item] or even [item]Shermanar Great-Ring[/item] drop for me they would be sufficient "upgrades" that aren't all that much worse than the badge ring.

I just don't know guys. Badges are so precious, cause I rarely get a chance to farm kara or whatever else, so I only get a badge item like once every 2 months. I just want to make sure I get the maximum usage.

As an off-tank, avoidance is more valuable than threat...at least, the way my guild does it.

Trash clearing, the main tank's target dies first, while the offtank has time to build up threat and hopefully avoiding a fair amount of damage to make it easier on the healers. If we have four mobs being pulled, we go MT1>OT1>MT2>OT2 in kill order.

On many boss fights, it's the same way, at least in Karazhan: Attumen, the off-tank is on attumen while the raid burns down midnight. Moroes, the main tank holds threat most of the time while the off-tank just needs to take some hits when the MT is gouged. Illhoof, the OT holds Kilrek long enough for the raid to damage down chains, etc etc.

In all of these situations, threat isn't quite as important as damage mitigation/avoidance.

  16. Wow, good point. So you're saying Sunguard is better for both MT and OT in most cases?
