Change your race?

I've seen some people's videos where either their race is different, or their items are different, than what they really are. For example: A dwarf's video has his character as a tauren.

How do people do this? I know it only shows up on my screen, not anyone elses, but still. If I make myself, a dwarf, look like a tauren, will all dwarves be tauren to me?

Three ways that I know of to "change your race":

1. Ashtongue Cowl
Makes you look like an Ashtongue Deathsworn! (quest item - kill Al'ar)

2. Orb of Deception
I believe your race gets mapped to a single race of the opposite faction.

3. Dimensional Ripper - Area 52
Puts a debuff on you that can turn you into opposite faction. Change stances and your
race changes!

Of course there are some food items as well.

Sounds like model changing to me. It's prohibited. Don't do it.

Yes. All the in-game models that are rendered on your screen comes from client side, and that includes hitbox information, size, etc. You could for example make the flag in Warsong Gulch so tall you'd always be able to see where it is, or make yourself tall enough to jump up on Mount Hyjal, or small enough to get through the smallest cracks. There are good reasons why it's prohibited.
