As you said yourself, the DPS is going to vary on a lot of variables and boss mechanics; most, I'll give you, the DPS/Raid controls. I know in my groups (normally 25m) the lowest DPS we really accept...

I use, and would recommend, the add-on Raeli's Spell Announcer (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/rsa.aspx) for this.

I would appreciate knowing which Boss Mod that is, as well. I would certainly consider testing it out.
