I don't mind moving and healing at all. I think action fights are awesome, even if people can't stay out of the freakin' fire. Hell, I'd love to have some Marching Band fight where everyone has to move to form shapes or words.

It's the 'zOMG spamfasteroreveryonedies!!!!' fights that bug me.
bullet Anaea on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 10:20:43
Riprap, I hear that, and I remember Ghostcrawler saying that they want Wrath bosses to be less about threat and more about moving and healing. QQ!
bullet Dandash on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 10:17:36
Hmmm my favorite's of the modern age:

Dick Dale's Miserlu

Allman Brothers' Jessica

People ask me all the time if I'm named after the song - I tell them my parents were so awesome they named me after the song before it came out. oo
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 10:15:11
MEC, as practicality goes... there's no difference. Not enough people believe in inherent rights of sentient beings, imo. And because they don't, the default state becomes 'You have the right to do whatever the guys with the guns let you do.'

Which is a complete and total travesty.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 10:13:46
Oh, and having done a little bit of Sunwell now, I can see why people say you need to stack haste... and I hate it.

Stupid stuff that means you need to shorten the GCD just to be able to keep up with healing. I just don't like it at all. Add on top of that the trash and bosses are stupid hard, and it's not a pleasant instance.

Old age analogy, but it's a good one: Playing with that haste is like playing an LP at 45 RPM. It's funny and amusing once or twice, but stupid and tiring over and over.
bullet Maneatingcow on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 10:12:21
Rip: The funny thing is I agree with you and still found myself typing "right". Luckily, I got it changed to "ability" in time, although I wondered if there was really any difference in the end.
bullet Maneatingcow on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 10:11:06
I'm going to break the "rules" for instrumental and vote for Tangerine Dream's Kiew Mission.

(Note. I found a link that doesn't actually have any lyrics in the performace! Wheee!)

Ok, since it's patch day, let's have some off-topic stuff!

How about first: what is your favorite instrumental song. Let's limit it to ones that are known as instrumentals, not just instrumental versions of other songs.

Going right for the top: Classical Gas by Mason Williams.

bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 08:04:38
argh, things poking my peeves again:

There is no such thing as a 'right' associated with WoW. To claim you have a 'right' to do anything just cheapens the concept of rights.
bullet Evol on Monday 13 October 2008 - 15:18:16
I give Illustria props for clicking through that far enough to find it. that site is horrid.
bullet Riprap on Monday 13 October 2008 - 14:47:51
Yeah, MEC, that is pretty egregious. Sometimes I feel sorry for people with bad business plans, but other times it's just stupidity.
bullet Maneatingcow on Monday 13 October 2008 - 14:42:10
Anaea = It's either that or watching Wytch kill someone when she sees what someone did to and with her artwork at Link Here

I thought he was just polishing up his 'I can be a giant jerk' act.

It's really convincing.
bullet Evol on Monday 13 October 2008 - 14:15:23
It's certainly got to be more entertaining than watch Timothy curse and act exasperated in an attempt to make a wrong point.
bullet Anaea on Monday 13 October 2008 - 13:39:43
You guys just want reading material for the 12-hour patch day. =P

bullet Anaea on Monday 13 October 2008 - 13:29:14
Ha, you don't know what you're asking... I've been told I don't argue with people, I just bludgeon them into submission with my long posts. =P
bullet Riprap on Monday 13 October 2008 - 13:13:21
Ooh, don't let that work go to waste, copy it so we can see it.
bullet Anaea on Monday 13 October 2008 - 13:02:59
Whoo boy, just wrote up the "this is what to expect until Wrath, and right after" post - 1300 words. I think I wrote college essays shorter than that!

Of course, now I'm completely brain dead for work. >.<
bullet Riprap on Monday 13 October 2008 - 12:45:11
I don't usually have apocalyptic dreams (I think), but I had a doozy last night.

Here's where it first popped up at BlizzCon:

It was in the class panel discussion info on WoWinsider's Blizzcon coverage. I'm sure MMOChamp has a more direct link...

Has there actually been any official posts about the dual spec mechanics that are being proposed by Blizzard? I haven't seen anything about it from them, just people talking about it in forum posts.

I didn't even see anything in all the Blizzcon coverage.
bullet Anaea on Monday 13 October 2008 - 08:55:19
LOL - I'm wondering if said Dune analogy was a veiled misogynistic comment... not that Dune is very veiled about it...

I actually felt kind of sorry for the kid. He really could not wrap his head around having a woman in a position of authority over him so he flunked the three classes he had which were taught by women.

Really, he was way too rigid to be studying abroad, and it seemed like no one had warned him. Not that I liked his theory about stoning me to death, but he really was bewildered.

...you're more than welcome to go back to your country if you don't like our education system?

Back when I taught at the U of Oregon, I had a student who plagiarized a paper by copying an encyclopedia entry. When he appeared before the conduct committee, his whole defense was "It's not fair that she figured out where I copied it from. If she weren't so sneaky, I wouldn't be in trouble now."

He's right up there with the Syrian student who skipped every single class without dropping the course, and when I flunked him, told the department head, "In my country, a woman who gave a man an 'F' would be stoned to death. I do not accept her right to judge me."

My mother's advice has always been "Always anticipate what you tell people being able to be printed on the front page of the newspaper."

It's like the people I see at our university's conduct committee who can't fathom how their facebook and myspace information winds up in front of us....

I just don't understand how someone who posts about a WoW character on a Live Journal page thinks she was keeping a SECRET, and blames OTHER people for telling that "secret".

My mother told me once when I was complaining that some friend of mine told one of my secrets "She wasn't the first person to tell it." My mother is a wise woman.

Ok, I'm starting to associate "Well, things weren't going so well in my guild, but I thought I'd put some stuff in the guild bank to help out' with "our marriage was terrible, we didn't agree on anything, so I got pregnant cause I thought it would help us come together."

The armory says I've only died 10 times.

Which just proves the armory lies. I'm a Tauren. I started playing in Thunder Bluff.

I've died more than 10 times just getting from Elder Rise to Spirit Rise.

In a related topic, there's no graceful way to fall off of Thunder Bluff.

More awesome super duper news!

*My* ICC project (not Icecrown Citadel but the Intercounty Connector) got a big stormwater approval today that lets the contractor get to work on the last 1/3 of the project. Everyone's really happy. :)
