Perenolde was wonky til about 8:15 PM MST, then seemed to be pretty stable, if laggy.
bullet Anaea on Wednesday 15 October 2008 - 09:47:41
That was about when AP came online, from what I heard.
bullet Riprap on Wednesday 15 October 2008 - 08:57:53
So whose server was up and whose wasn't last night?

Aggramar was down until about 12:20 AM EDT.
bullet Riprap on Wednesday 15 October 2008 - 07:57:04
DS, any reason you're still using Titan over FuBar?

Psiona, there are lots of mods that work fine. Look at Curse and WoWInterface, they both have sections with updated mods, although you have to pay attention with Curse. Sometimes they've been updated, but not committed, so it'll say there's an update from 10/14 or 10/15, but it'll download one from July or something.

The curse client is actually working pretty well for getting mods. Just make sure you don't have it update the ones you get from WoWI. Generally authors pick one spot to update to around patch times.
bullet Psiona on Wednesday 15 October 2008 - 07:00:32
Does any one know if they have mods out there that work with 3.0.2? I logged in last night and gave my toons haircuts and filled in their talent trees. I am so tempted (but not sure if its worth it) to go back and re-run all the heroics I did that I did not get credit for.
bullet Deadlysinner on Wednesday 15 October 2008 - 06:54:25
im a mod a holic... though my cant live w/o.. titan, elephant, gatherer, bartender ...
bullet Measles on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 22:15:32
Autoprofit - because I'm lazy.

Titan Panel - because Fubar coords are hideously bugged.

Omen. Because.
bullet Evol on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 19:44:12
that's the one.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 19:27:44
So, all those servers up... except Aggramar. I could go log in to Shadow Council... I think not.

Which FuBar guild plugin do you like, Evol? I just like the plain GuildFu one.
bullet Evol on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 19:18:43
oh, forgot BigWigs. For announcements and such.
bullet Evol on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 19:18:11
Mods I use:

SRaidFrames because they're easier than blizzards.

Omen: because threat is an issue.

Fubar: because there's a guild plugin I likey.

Item Rack: I'm a druid. I need gear switching.

Prat: colors player text and moves the chat bar up to the top where i can see it better.

Postal: makes checking email on my auction alt easier.

Auctioneer: duh.

Cartographer. I like the map better.

That's it. I got rid of all the rest. i don't even need a damage meter. I know other people have it, I can just wait for them to post.
bullet Hammerstone on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 16:16:46
I have always used the default UI. Never changed it. I tried installing one of those bar addons once like X Perl or whatever and after 5 minutes of vertigo disabled and unistalled it all.

But then again, I also tank without damage meters and I don't use map mods or auction mods.

The only addon I have that I can't live without is Doublewide. I have no idea why Blizzard never made it the default quest text layout.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 16:03:14
And if things get too hectic, follow the advice of yoga kitteh.

bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 16:01:42
Ahh, ok, I get a little more of what Curse is doing with addons, and it's not too bad.

Basically, the new commit system means the authors have to push the release on a mod before it's available from curse.com. They're working on getting everyone to do this, so that things are pushed from curseforge to curse.com.

Their bandwidth and site response has stayed really good so far.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:47:28
Heh, I had a whole full FuBar, and had considered another partial bar to hide, but never went that far.

I keep a lot of things out that most people don't. I show a lot of action buttons, which I'm hoping to get rid of. I show 3 different chat windows, for 6 different channels (including guild, party, and raid) plus a small combat log. I always have full raid frames out when I'm in a raid, because I hate not knowing what's going on with the fight. I don't show people's mana anymore, and I've condensed a lot of things down.

I am planning on seeing if I can get rid of some stuff. But that's a different case than using the default UI which shows me a lot of things I don't need to see, and doesn't show me things I want to see.
bullet Psiona on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:45:31
My screen is so cluttered with UI stuff, people often wonder how I can see where I am going. When I need the info I focus on it, when I don't, I stare through it
bullet Evol on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:33:26
Well, I do have a 24" monitor, and a 60% ui scale.

I was like you as well. Wanting to see a lot of information.

Then I realized... I don't need to see all of that information. Not at once anyway. So I started looking for Fubar items that I could make visible on the fly, but not take up any screen space.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:30:35
I loathe the default UI. It doesn't give me anywhere near the information I want to see.

And it wastes so much space.
bullet Evol on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:22:09
Ha.

Being someone who has a lot of foresight, and tries to see the big picture (lol), I removed most of my addons about a month ago, and have been getting refamiliarized with the default UI. I now have nothing that affects the basic layout of the bars and frames. (other than sRaid Frames, that is, and a beta of Cartographer I'm trying)

I use the default action bar, default map, default character UI, default party UI.

It was suprisingly easy to do. I thought it was going to be a pain. /shrug
bullet Gertrudis on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:16:37
I think I shall be discovering the wonders of the default UI, groan. Or bribe our resident UI guru to make something that works for me..
bullet Measles on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 15:00:38
*sigh* I'm looking for a profitable solution to being employed. I'm soooo sick of work.
bullet Psiona on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 14:53:47
The curse client isn't horrible. I've been spoiled by WUA, and I def need something that I can press a button and update all add ons with ease. Curse functions well enough for that.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 14:49:36
Oh, everyone needs to realize, there are two patches. One is the big one that pre-downloaded, it needs to finish. That'll get you to 3.0.1. Then there's another one that will get you up to 3.0.2.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 14:43:42
Just make new ones :)
bullet Egeria on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 14:15:01
My aged, decrepit brain has lost my curse creds and their recovery method, well, doesn't recover mucn!
bullet Maneatingcow on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 14:13:35
And I've now plugged in my external USB. Take a hike beta, I'll bring you back after Wow is working and I've defragged.

bullet Evol on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 14:08:50
The new curse client isn't 100% worse than the ace updater for me. Because the Mac Curse Client is out hanging with Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.
bullet Maneatingcow on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 13:42:18
I think I've save all my addons for while everyone's at work tomorrow...
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 13:40:32
and BTW, if you can start getting addons now, you might want to do so. The sites are already slowing down.
bullet Riprap on Tuesday 14 October 2008 - 13:38:32
Well, the new Curse client isn't as good as WAU. But I can still appreciate Kaelten's hardships that pushed the merge to Curse. Ace was never really supposed to be a release site. It just turned out that people like beta versions of things better than release versions, and it ended up getting hammered. I think it was serving up TERABYTES of data on patch days...

We've got a thread about Shadowmourne on our guild forums now. I PM'd the Guild Leader giving him my thoughts on it, including Evol's advice of "You know who should get it. Just give it to them." I think it's the same kind of deal. I know who I think should get it. I also know of a few people who will get bent out of shape if they aren't given it (something that imo works against them in the entirely arbitrary calculation of 'deservedness').

Maybe you're using 'felt sorry' in a different way than I'm understanding it, but I sure don't feel sorry for anyone who holds that kind of attitude. I'm not a big fan of anyone who assumes that another human being is a lesser creature.

I actually felt kind of sorry for the kid. He really could not wrap his head around having a woman in a position of authority over him so he flunked the three classes he had which were taught by women.

Really, he was way too rigid to be studying abroad, and it seemed like no one had warned him. Not that I liked his theory about stoning me to death, but he really was bewildered.

...you're more than welcome to go back to your country if you don't like our education system?

Back when I taught at the U of Oregon, I had a student who plagiarized a paper by copying an encyclopedia entry. When he appeared before the conduct committee, his whole defense was "It's not fair that she figured out where I copied it from. If she weren't so sneaky, I wouldn't be in trouble now."

He's right up there with the Syrian student who skipped every single class without dropping the course, and when I flunked him, told the department head, "In my country, a woman who gave a man an 'F' would be stoned to death. I do not accept her right to judge me."

My mother's advice has always been "Always anticipate what you tell people being able to be printed on the front page of the newspaper."

It's like the people I see at our university's conduct committee who can't fathom how their facebook and myspace information winds up in front of us....

I just don't understand how someone who posts about a WoW character on a Live Journal page thinks she was keeping a SECRET, and blames OTHER people for telling that "secret".

My mother told me once when I was complaining that some friend of mine told one of my secrets "She wasn't the first person to tell it." My mother is a wise woman.

Ok, I'm starting to associate "Well, things weren't going so well in my guild, but I thought I'd put some stuff in the guild bank to help out' with "our marriage was terrible, we didn't agree on anything, so I got pregnant cause I thought it would help us come together."

The armory says I've only died 10 times.

Which just proves the armory lies. I'm a Tauren. I started playing in Thunder Bluff.

I've died more than 10 times just getting from Elder Rise to Spirit Rise.

In a related topic, there's no graceful way to fall off of Thunder Bluff.
