IIRC Thunderclap/Shockwave are ranged attacks. Does that mean that the Gnomish X-Ray Scope can proc off of Thunderclap and Shockwave? If so. Jawsome.

I think they are counted as aoe attacks, not ranged attacks. This means they still cannot be dodged or parried, but they are treated as melee aoe, not ranged aoe.
As far as I can recall, thunderclap counted as a ranged attack at one point in time. I think that changed early to mid wrath.
I think TC was changed with either the pre-cata mechanics drop or with cata's drop. It used to be the only tanking enchant for range weapons was the crit strike one, for increased TC crits. Now, I have yet to see anyone say there is a useful weapon enchant for warriors, DPS or Tank.
Thunderclap was changed to a ranged attack from a spell attack for hit. This made it hit more frequently, and I believe it happened pre-4.0.1.
The effect of gnomish X-ray scope is + range attack power, so I assume it's not so useful?
I'm currently using the +range hit scope, seems to be working on shockwave.
TC & SW are ranged abilities that scale with melee AP.
Ranged AP or damage scopes will not work, but rating scopes will.
Edit: Same goes for Heroic Shoe .. I mean Throw, Heroic Throw!!
Who throws a shoe? Honestly....
Do boots count?

Just tested it, and at least TC is NOT affected by ranged hit rating:

No misses for SW so far, but 104 is of course not a sufficient sample size. 17sec CD is a bitch for testing such things. Didn't test the shoe, obviously. :)
Weird ... they must've changed in Cataclysm then, cause I ran a 600+ hit test back in tBC (G15 button repeat macro helps) and definately found TC to get Ranged hit back then.
Now if only I get a sucker to test crit... :D
the tooltip says the scope affects "its" hit rating, which seems to indicate it only affects the gun's attacks, not all ranged attacks.
Strangely enough, this is true for Safety Catch Removal Kit and most pre-cata scopes, but not for R19 Threatfinder.
Sun Scope even says 'your ranged haste rating'. Weird, really.
