I agree at least it should be like that but for me this is only true if my vengeance is higher then 51 % until that point Devestate gives me more tps/dps. (at least the spreadsheet tells me that..)

and when you reach that 51% vengeance stack in most of the encounters threat becomes irrelevant even with a suboptimal

priorization DPS wouldn't pull aggro.

On most fights you don't out gear you should be nearing max vengenace. I didn't state we needed max TPS, merely how we would go about it. Of course if you removed HT and CB from it you would actually also have our Max DPS rotation, which is something we should be striving for once Survivability and Threat are non-issues.

With my raid buffs, which sadly like a feral druid, arms warrior, subtlety rogue it will on average only take me 8 seconds to stack vengeance to the point that Dev spamming is sub optimal. I generally cover the first 10 seconds of the fight with shield block, which makes the weaving rotation optimal again due to HR.

Teng, I am still not sold that SnB rotation is best for the opening cycle under recklessness and str potion, mostly because of how much more SW and CB benefit from those two factors compared to Dev. Using SS-Dev-CB-SW myself right now.

First off, Recklessness? all our abilites scale similarily with it until they get crit capped, and Dev despite is extra crit from talents won't be crit capped until you can find 15% from your gear, and thats alot of crit rating.

The Optimal starting rotation depends entirely on how long your starting rotation is and how quickly you build vengeance. For me it takes ~7 seconds on average to aquire 30% and for SW to catch up to Dev in threat so including it prior to then is going to be a threat loss, mainly due to Dev's innately higher crit. In the worst case scenario my Openener looks likes:

SS>dev>dev>CB

which the same threat over those 4 gcds as yours if we assume SW=Dev threat at low vengence (in my case Dev>SW), however i can get lucky and have an opener that looks like these:

SS>dev>dev>SS

SS>Dev>SS>Dev

which being that I will general have SB up on the pull is about a 10% threat gain for me. Though this is highle dependant on the rate at which you gain vengenace. as having a parry/dodge/miss streak is going to be catastrophic for threat even if it is the boss doing the missing.

Nah Teng, you can see it from the spreadsheet. Recklessness gives ~70% boost to CB, only 50% for Dev. Either way, their bases are different and we probably want a higher base at the start, cos Dev's only value is in having it proc SnB which reduces consistency. Similar with SW, while it reduces the ceiling and avg, it raises the floor. And a low floor is where the threat problems usually come from. This all quickly gets subjective and overly complicated :)

Recklessness give 50% crit. How are you managing to make it give 70% to CB?

This is not a fair way of looking at it, recklessness only lasts for 5 GCDs.

You should be comparing something like

(SS - Dev - CB - SW - SS) - Dev - Dev - Dev

vs

(SS - Dev - Dev - CB - SS) - Dev - Dev - SW

expanding both lines for SnB procs, etc.

Okay, S0 according to the sheets dummy boss values i will on average take 17.2k a swing from the boss every 2 seconds Since we don't put TC up in the opener and i have SB up, now asumming i don't have vigilance on someone else this means ill gain 860 AP every two seconds or about 6.4% vengenave per second

EDIT: Bugger that, spend the first 4GCDs fishing for Procs, and if on the fifth GCD SS is on cd use CB.

EDIT2: though if the pattern continues it will probably be a threat loss over the first 10 seconds to use CB at that point over fishing for more SS(HR)s, and if we were to map out all the variables (and i'm using someone elses head for that) the answer would likely be, spend the first x GCDs fishing for SnB procs and then use either SS or failing that CB in the last GCD of the time period.

Regarding that 5th GCD, is my spreadsheet just off (just downloaded the newest one for excel to double check it)? It shows CB way below Dev (yielding a 372 weapon with 521.7 dps) for your assumed 5th global at 48% vengeance (5*1.5 seconds * 6.4% vengeance), on par with revenge.

In general: Devastates assumption for total threat looks very high for those low/zero vengeance situations even while removing the increased crititcal strike rate from talent/glyphs. Outside of a high rage situation it just looks advisable to only spam Rev/Dev while fishing for SnB proccs (20 rage saved every time) and using excessive rage on HS.

Its missing 2x threat multiplier.
