Ok.. im still gearing out (I have a few epics.) just hit 550 defense.

Now im able to buy the Greater Inscription of the Pinnacle http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50337.
Im wondering if i should buy that and replace the old one. Also if i should put in different gems in. "HALP":confused:

As far as defense goes, 540 is the minimum where you cannot be crit against a level 83 mob. If you are using the aforementioned shoulder enchant the 15 resil will give you 4 defense worth of non-critability making the minimum 536, so while more than 536 is not bad by any means, it becomes more advantageous to stack stam once you are uncrittable.

The general rule of thumb:
Being over the Defense minimum (540) is never a bad thing as long as you don't actively try to acquire it, meaning one shouldn't ever gem or enchant for Def if you are over 540. Stamina, Armor, and Avoidance will all be better for you. Now if you end up with a bunch of defense from gear that were all clearly upgrades then power to ya. You'll just have more avoidance which is rarely bad.
More accurately: overall stam and armor will be better for you. Defense actually gives the highest avoidance percent back point for point because it spreads the diminishing returns around 3 stats, parry, dodge, and miss, well and also just has higher overall coeffs.Quote:
