Pillars of Might still BiS? and other questions on gear.

I know that some pieces had recently got boosts in stats.

Are the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49904 still the BiS for Tanks?

Trying to decide if I should try for the tier legs from VoA 10/25 or the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50808 from Saurfang. The expertise is just so tempting, but the armor on Pillars is so yummy looking.

I will be picking up http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50968 by Sunday at the latest. Sitting at 89 Frost, with an ICC10 run and the weekly raid yet to do.

I have http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50856 so should I get http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50978 or is it "safe" to start using my Emblems of Frost for my dps set.

Also should I really swap out http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50790 to go back to the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47731? Saw another thread saying the Clutch is better.

I'm not really versed in Frost but looking over your armory, your hp is on the lower side and your armor didnt strike me as obviously high. For that reason i'd personally go for the higher stam & armor on the 264 items. And i'd evaluate the ring after getting the 264 items and seeing how my hp & armor fare vs Festergut. My instict says clutch will be better but you never know, it's a delicate balancing game.

Most of the tanking DK's I know are only going with 2pc bonus. Helm and shoulder seem to be a good choice for that.

Pillars of Might are Bis pre Heroic ICC 25 AFAIK. Use Kraken Gloves and clutch but keep the other 2 handy for times where you will need high hit or magic damage cases.

Also really you should be using 2 slow DPS weapons for DW frost tanking.

I don't know that much about DK tanks, and my apologies for going slightly offtopic, but I'm getting awefully close to the armor cap as seen on this screenshot, this is with the toc10 ring/weapon and armor pot/elixir, but without the rep ring proc. In any normal situation I will be using a stoneblood flask ofcourse, but I'm expecting to get some more armor from gear upgrades.

I have yet to put some work in making a set with all the gear I want (dreamwalker ring, ac bracers from saurfang-10-hc and the trinket from professor-10-hc), but potentially it might be worth to use the 277 T10 legs for warriors since any armor over the cap is a waste.

I don't think it's possible to truly cap (against a boss) without procs like the one from corpse tongue coin, black heart, or rep ring. So the pillars are still BiS for physical mitigation even in full 277 with all possible bonus armor pieces. The armor you showed in the above screenshot is ~73% damage reduction against a boss, and you'd need quite a bit more armor to get to 75 (not sure what the exact cap is). My full armor gearset, self buffed (indestructible + armor elixir), gets me to 44,254 armor (39,954 totally unbuffed) and that's only 72.68% reduction against a lv83 (only 70.60% totally unbuffed). You'll never have to worry about wasted armor from gear unless it's armor from a proc (temporary armor).


TLDR: Yea, they're still BiS for physical mitigation.

Ah ofcourse, I totally forgot about the fact that the tooltip is reduction against level 80 mobs.
