Fury Warrior: Advice/Guidance wished.

Hi all.

After a four to five month break from the game I've returned last week in an unusual role for me as a DPS-er (used to be the maintank) and at the same time returned to an Officer/Raid Leader Role. (partially due to a lack of better options)

This basically means that I have a very tough time, not only in earning my keep damage wise but also on tactics and management issues. What I'd like you to do is quickly check my armory link and post to see if I've missed some obvious things and whatnot.

Note: In retrospect I should have taken 3/3 Tactical Mastery and only 2/3 Iron Will as I tend to stancedance for Shattering Throw at the beginning of Heroism/Bloodlust, is this a mistake?

Current amount of badges.
Conquest: ±65
Triumph: ±5

Raiding Progression.
ToC Heroic 10/25: Not invited yet due to competition / Not getting anything down.
ToC Normal 10/25: Clearing on a weekly basis.
Ulduar 25: Up to and including Vezax with Deconstructor/Flame Leviathan hard modes.
Ulduar 10: Seems to fall off the scheduele, guild recently obtained the Algalon key.
DKP-wise looting anything from ToC25 is going to be hard as I'm way down on DKP, I however still reign on the Ulduar table. 10mans are not on DKP but on rolls.

Current Priority list in Gearing.
1) Get a better trinket, I'll likely end up getting the Darkmoon Card: Greatness as I've given up on the Banner of Victory after at least 15 runs.

2) Buy the Bloodshed Band from Badges of Triumph, this will get my Hit Rating up to an acceptable level again. I realistically have this item on either Wednesday night or Thursday night.

Damage Output.
Now this is where I start to get dizzy, purely looking at my position at World of Logs I'm starting to get my grip on my new role but the number output itself is disappointing me; am I having unrealistic ideas about my own viability or is my competition just "average" compared to their gear?

I was particularly worried that I have caught up to both of the other DPS warriors in the guild; whom I both rate highly when it comes to playing skills. I'll parse their armory links as well for comparison.

Last thing before I'll end this TLDR post. I allways used Rawr for my comparisons in combination with common sense. Is Rawr still considered to be accurate or has it fallen to the ranks of maxdps?

Quick question recap.
1) Any obvious mistakes in the spec/gearing?
2) Should I have worries either about my own damage output or about that of my raid group?
3) Is Rawr still considered to be adequate, if not what is the most common used alternative?
4) Is my routine of stancedance => Shattering Throw considered a DPSgain or loss, if it is a loss where do other fury warriors use it?

spec and gearing look fairly standard. one reason your dps is lower than theirs is because you have so little hit. fury is very unforgiving when you arent at or close to hit and expertise caps. it is very rage reliant meaning a dodge and miss in a row can leave you standing there with no rage to keep your rotation going waiting on another white swing. i would suggest moving the point from heroic fury to anger management along with your already 4/5 unbridled wrath for some extra rage gen (not alot i know but helps at lower gear lvls). get a nobles card asap to replace that whetstone, and keep going for the banner to replace the mirror. other pieces you can get geared pretty quickly in toc10. go for legs, chest, shoulders, and helm for t9 pieces (your gloves should hold you over for awhile since its hit and expertise).

2) Should I have worries either about my own damage output or about that of my raid group?
not familiar with world of logs, lost as hell trying to figure it out so cant comment on that.

3) Is Rawr still considered to be adequate, if not what is the most common used alternative?
spreadsheets have always been better than maxdps, the current one to use is landsoul's spreadsheet found on elitist jerks (Warrior DPS Calculation Spreadsheet - Elitist Jerks)

it is a raid dps gain to shattering throw (time it with bloodlust and other warriors in raid) so you dumping all your rage to stance dance > shattering throw > stance dance again will be made up by all physical dps'ers (hunters, rogues, ferals, rets, enhance, other warriors, even tanks and pets) getting that extra arp. and yes, for fury 3/3 tactical mastery is a mandatory imo so you have the exact rage you need to stance dance shattering throw.


im sure you know this, but practice practice practice your rotation on the dummy in the cities to make sure you get it down to muscle memory (after being arms for so long now i could prolly put out comparable dps with eyes closed). if they are in toc25 and your on the sidelines, go practice. when they pull you in for your shot at proving yourself in there you will have your rotation down solid.

you need hit. try to get to 7% (caps at 8% with heroic presence)

have one of you warriors go arms and use shattering throw. it will take your DPS loss down because you wont be stance dancing, and your feral druid wont have to mangle anymore (easily a 600-800 dps increase for him)

get your nobles deck, or Death's Verdict - Item - World of Warcraft from twins.

on lord jeraxxus you got 25 slam! procs, you only used 16 it looks like. try and get a mod that can tell you when slam! proc's.

i think it's been shown that you cant really get 100% slam proc usage since pushing back your bt and ww is an actual dps loss. since the proc only lasts a few seconds (about half the time as the arms procs) its hard to get an available gcd to use it.

the proc refreshes when you get another proc though.. and you really only have 2 GCD's you ever use so there isnt an excuse to not use all of the procs. it lasts 5 secconds, thats long enough to get it to proc, use BT and WW and still get it off.

oh, and i looked at your other warrior that was under you in dps.. hes gemming crit, slap him.

also. looking at the warriors in your guild, none of them have imp shouts. i would recommend you use something like this
i dont tend to go towards unbridled wrath unless im always with a warrior that has imp shouts. its not really a DPS increase, and judging by you and your other warriors gear, you shouldnt be raged starved.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been out of town for a few days.

* Gear has improved and thankfully so has the hit, newest addition is the Earthshaper.

* A respecc has happened since I made this topic, it no longer has the 2/3 Tactical Mastery fail.

* I am in the posession of a Nobles Deck, I just have to wait until the next Darkmoon Fair. Death's Verdict doesn't look realistic DKP-wise but it is at the top of my list.

* Instant Slam procs is my main learning point from what I saw. I have a mod for it, I just need to react to it better.

* The reason none of our warriors are using the Commanding Presence is that we have a 100% attending Retribution Paladin with Improved Blessing of Might. I did pick it up though for my Arms offspec which I sometimes use in 10mans for the Mortal Strike debuff.

Is that with or without the Precision talent? I'm at the moment at 173Hit Rating which according to my math means I'm actually 41 Rating above the yellow cap.

you only need 5% hit from gear to be capped with talents as fury (8% overall). which is 165 i believe for non-alliance.

your correct on not taking imp shouts. as arms i take imp demo shout, and as fury i take uw since we have a ret in raids.

for your instant slams, be careful not to push bt and ww back while using the proc. meaning if bt or ww are coming up within 1.5 seconds dont hit it.
