Does anyone know how much defense rating affects Icebound Fortitude? The tool tips says "The Death Knight freezes his blood to become immune to Stun effects and reduce all damage taken by 20% plus additional damage reduction based on Defense for 12 sec". Are there any solid numbers on how much reduction the additional defense adds?
There have been experiments that suggest the scale is linear, but you can expect that at the uncrittable cap, 540, it's worth 35% total damage reduction (so +15% from 140 defense skill).
Testing was done on this (I dont have link, but its posted here) and it was shown to be linear with defense skill (this is important as it scales with RoSsG).
It is roughly 35% at 540
And 40% at 585 ie. it takes about 45ish def skill to gain a 5% dam reduction to IBF. (rough math)
IBF is 20% base at 400 defense, from there it scales linearly at 0.15% per point of defense.
So, with 540 defense it'll be 140 * 0.15, an additional 21% to base.
600 defense would give an extra 30% (200 * 0.15) to base, 50% total.

with the change to the IBF glyph. do tanks get a bonus 10% reduction or is it not pointless to grab that glyph? the way it's worded it makes it sound like the latter but since i havent tested it i was wondering if someone on the forums already have.
The language seems pretty clear to me, it allows you to hit a minimum of 30% without added defense, but since tanks will already be sitting at 32-35% with the require defense to be uncrittable, it's clearly meant more for pvp/dps (though the latter seems a bit like a waste of a glyph slot).
The glyph only sets you to 30% if you are below it, it does not stack with the buff from defense.
On of the ulduar bosses has a neg 200 def rating ability strike, this is where this glyph becomes useful.
A -200 def rating debuff = tank swap
